I'm interested to see the general concensus on the 3rd row seats in the 200 not being easily removed as in the 80 and 100 series. Now, I am sure that they "can" be removed somehow, I seriously doubt many owners would take a blow torch to the inside of their new $70+ K Land Cruiser. That's not the question here.

My feeling is that it is a bad decision not to have them easily removed. Even having them folded up on their sides it still eats up storage space. At least give the owner the option to remove them! Since I do not own a 200 (yet??) I am basing this on my 100 series.

GET IT ON !!!

Someone over seas has already removed the seats. I can not find the post however I think they said they used a 14mm.

That's somewhat good to know. I just find it strange that they didn't have them "easily" removable like in the 80 and 100. I was trying to think of all the SUV's that have a 3rd row and are either removable or fold flat ( IRS). It isn't that huge of a deal to me, but I would at least like to have the option to keep or remove them. I imagine Toyota did some kind of study group to come to the conclusion that they did.

And possibly the fact that the 3rd rows in the 100 when folded up, moved and bump. Very annoying.

Are you getting a RR or a 200?

they just unbolt to remove, not a big deal. maybe for the avg owner, they are 'permanent' but pop a few plastic covers and a socket- they are out. maybe the did it his way b/c the old style did rattle around w/ folded. the 200's are solidly integrated.

About the third row seats. They are VERY easy to put up and down. My wife, who is 7 1/2 months pregnant has no issues with them at all. (except she is 5'2", but Toyota cannot help me with that.....well maybe they can. )

I'm not going to make a decision until I see & drive the LC. And if I like it I might wait to see the LX (even though I'm not crazy about owning a Lex). You might get more features for not that much more $$ in the LX. Depends on the pricing on the LX. Most likely the LX is going to be pretty close to a RRs/c. If that's the case I will most likely go with the RR. But who knows? I'm really vacillating on this decision. Maybe I'll just keep the 100 and get that Nissan GT-R next summer !!!

GT-R, now that is BADA$$! Do that! Hard to beat a japanese awd supercar.

With 381hp and 401ft/lbs of torque the new 200 may be fun to drive too.

This is from one of my other posts

This is what one of the guys here in Aus found out:

"If you remove the plastic cover from the seat mount to the REAR of the vehicle there are 2 14mm bolts that hold it to the floor of the cargo area. Remove these.

The front mount, remove the plastic and there is a 14mm bolts going through the bracket to the floor of the cargo area and 1 14mm bolt going into the side of the rear wheel arch.

Now, pull the lever on the inside of the rear pillar that disengages the lock holding the third row of seats up, and remove the seat.

You WILL have a fist sized gap in the carpet where the brackets used to mount, and I suggest possible putting the bolts back in the holes to plug them up. (I didnt remove it all, but just in case the threaded bolt hole goes all the way through)

This will give you the room you crave, and help you out with the rear draw slides and the like."

Hope that helps

The real question is, after these few days of owning it, how do you feel about this truck?
