On a long drive last week there was a burning oil smell and hot air blowing into the cab. We pulled over and lifted the hood. No obvious oil leaks and the engine bay was really hot. Radiator was warm.
Thermostat on the dash was below half.
Coolant levels were checked, some coolant in overflow tank.
Suggestions?

Suggestions for what? Is there an issue? Did the engine overheat?
With a hot engine, the coolant level should be at least or over the FULL line in the overflow tank.

hot air in the engine bay as in AC stopped working? Like Joh asked, did the engine overheat? 1st sign is AC stopped blowing cold, coolant dumping out from overfloat, water temp gauge will be 3/4 or above...

Thanks Johnheld & Marco.
Engine did not over heat, it seemed odd the very hot temperature in the engine bay. AC was off, and coolant overflow tank was approx 1/3 full.
Guess it was nothing to be concerned about.
Thanks for your comments.
