Hey guys, I really need some help. I searched everywhere and can't find the answer to this. I posted this in the 80 section, but since I have a 3fe powered 80, I am posting it here also for help.
Here is the problem with my 92 3FE powered 80:
1) The exhaust has smelled like sh!t since I got my 92. It just smells like is running rich (not like eggs...cats are gone). (Gas mileage is about 12mpg or so)
2) Only when it is hot outside (85ish or better) and the truck is at full temperature, if i stop the truck and put it in park, the truck starts to rev up and down quickly. It goes up to around 2000 rpm and then down to where it almost stalls out...then back up, then down up down up.........till I turn the truck off or turn off the a/c. When i go to restart the truck, it seems flooded or something. It will start after about 2-4 seconds, but I have to rev it up to clear it out. It runns like a champ otherwise. So strange..no problems driving down the road or stopping at lights, only when I put it in park. It doesnt always do this, but it is a regular occurance when hot outside. It has never done it when its cool outside...70s or less. I hope this makes sense....thats the best I can explain the symptoms.
Additionally, it feels like it has a very slight miss when it is idling at full temperature, but its barely noticeable. It idles at 650 as it should.
So far I have done the following:
*Checked for codes (No codes present)
*New O2 sensors (Denso)
*New water temp sensor (ecu) and water temp switch (fpr)
*New fuel pressure regulator
*New EFI relay
*New air intake tube (that attaches to throttle body)
*Full tune up w oem parts (Jon Helds full list to include..valve cover bolt gromets, pcv valve and gromet, oil cap, valve cover gasket, oil dipstick, etc) (Except the dizzy o-ring...I forgot to do that)
*Valve adjustment
*New egr
*Cleaned egr gas temp sensor and it tested good per fsm (california model)
*Adjusted timing
*New intake and exhaust gaskets
*Cleaned cold start injector and checked CSI time switch per fsm
*Sprayed carb cleaner everywhere and cant find any vacuum leaks
*Tested TPS and AFM
*ISC passed on vehicle inspection (3 Clicks after shutdown)
*Fuel pressure vsv passed fsm test
*Plugs look good, no smoke on start up, doesnt burn oil
*Cleaned the throttle body and intake best I could
*Its not overheating....new thermostat, coolant flush and 10CST oil in fan clutch
*Ran injector cleaner in several tanks
I feel like it is something electronic (but what do I know)...possiblly afm, isc or tps, but they tested ok. Am I missing something??? I'll retest these, but what does this sound like??? Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
I'm sure I missed something I have done, but I think this is all the related maintenance.
Thanks for any help!!! I'm stumpped!
