Hi all, I posted this same thread in a different section, so thought I’d post it in this section for some assistance.
My bj42 3b diesel is running really rough on idle...basically when I’m at a red light the car vibrates a lot. I know these cars do vibrate a little being a diesel but this is noticeably not normal...though it smoothes out when I take off and revs are up. It’s currently idling around 650-700. Also notice it a little more sluggish than usual.
All thoughts and advice is welcome. That’s all.

I'd focus on the injector lines. Get a wrench and crack them your self when it is running. You get a little mist out and tighten, go thru one by one. See if it makes it smoother. If it gets rough again there is something in the system letting in air.

As far as 3B's with turbos I have about 100k on mine. I would not drive a naturally aspirated 3B. Might be better in a 42, but in a 60 they are too slow. I run 10-12 psi with no issues at all.

If you are adjusting your fuel flow on the pump to add a little power you should use an EGT gauge. Autometer one with a probe into the exhaust pipe works great. I ran this before I turbo'd and was able to add fuel but not so much my temps were in a dangerous level.
