I have a 73 fj that Im considering a transplant.That being said my fj doesnt have a tranny or tc in it right now. I do have access to them but was wondering is there an simplier tranny and tc or is the stock ok, thanks Rod

My 73 has a 383 coupled to am sm465 and stock transfer case. axle gearing is stock. Only issue is the sm465's steep gearing. Not unmanagable but a consideration.

I'm runnin a 350, sm 465 and a stock transfer with 39.5" swamper's, good so far, but I am nowhere near as hard on it as I used to be.

I have a 283 sbc in my 73. It is mated to the stock 3 spd via an AA adapter. It works well.
