is anyone running 34" or 35" skinnier tires on a 3" lifted 80?

pics and details would be appreciated.

is there any rubbing? are there lots of tire options out there..

is the mileage better then a 33x12.5 mud tires...

I'm running 315's on a 3"/3.5" lift front/rear (2"/2.5" OME Medium, and a 1" body lift).

Fits perfectly, with very slight rubbing on the passengers side. If I adjusted my rear panhard rod (to compensate for the lift) it wouldn't rub at all.

I know there is someone on here who is or was running the super swamper Q78's and i think they come out to like a 35.10.5 or something do a search for tall and skinny tires i think there was a picture thread not to long ago.

ClemsonCruiser has or had the Q78's

I have a 35x10.5 SSR spare that I have mounted recently to see how it looks. I think tall and skinny looks terrible on an 80, the rig is so big it wears as 12.5" tire as if it were a skinnier tire.

The 80 fits a full 35" tire so easily and runs them at near stock fuel economy with proper gearing (depending on how fast you drive). Going narrow up to a 35" tire is purely a visual and/or performance preference (you can search for opinions that skinny tires work better offroad due to a smaller contact patch, despite the fact that not many crawlers go skinny based on experience).

bomb up some pics for me guys...:)

Just had these mounted last week. they are the 255 85 16's 33.3" dia I believe. I know the toyo's in the same size measure in at over 34" dia.

haven't had them wheeling yet. I was hoping for a little better mileage, maybe increase in power on hills, and good performance in mud and snow by going with the narrower tire. So far I've noticed some increase in power, haven't emptied a full tank yet, but possibly getting more miles on the tank I'm running. On the down side, I have noticed I get thrown around more on the highway by bumps in the road. Not terrible, but it's noticably different from the wider tires.
I have noticed the spare tucks up underneath better than the old ones.

I understand I won't have as large a footprint on the rocks for crawling. It's a trade off. Just wanted to try something new.

the Q78's end up being 35.5 x 10.8 according to interco's website. here they are on the red 80 w/ a 2.5'' lift.

Kenda RT 35x10.5.
Good all round tire mounted on steelies.
They have taken me to BC skiing the backcountry via single track logging roads twice which is almost 40hrs one way. I would buy them again.
On the HDJ81

Thanks Natty, unfortunately not a common car in the UK... they look great on yours!

255/85/R16 Toyo Open Country M/T measure just over 34" Great tire, surprisingly quiet. Fits in the spare tire spot underneath. 3" lift(might be 4" 🤷‍♀️)
