Currently running BFG AT's 31x10.5x15 on my BJ74 with stock suspension and am in need of new tires. I like that tall skinny look on LC's and was thinking of going with an AT 33x9.5x15 size. From the searching I've done on the board, the biggest concerns with this size seem to be cornering performance and sidewall flex. How about rubbing on my stock suspension? The truck is primarily a daily driver and rarely sees any serious mud, more logging roads than anything.

I wouldn't mind going to a 16" rim but that money could be better spent on something else on the cruiser, and the 15's I have look all right. Does anyone have any pics of a 70 series runing a 33x9.5x15? I've seen loads of pics of 40 & 55 series running them (ie. https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=100070 ) but not really any 70's.

I had them on my 70 for a little bit, sorry no photos for you. I'd go 33/10.5's , cause i don't think they make the 9.5's anymore and less flex with the 10.5's. Not sure where you're at, but if you're on the island feel free to take mine for an afternoon.
Cheers!

I asked an aussie tyre shop if they are still making the 9,5 and he says they are.
Any holds up in tyre sizes is due to a worldwide shortage of rubber

The only manufacturer that I've found is BFG who make the 33x9.5x15 in an AT. Dan, do you have pics of your rig with 33x10.5x15 on? I'm on the mainland but otherwise I would take you up on you offer.

Here are a few pics of 33x10.5 on BJ70 (Jan's is the copper colored one on the right with the 33's)

Cheers,

Looking at the Tirerack website, there seems to be a lot more options in a 32x11.5x15 size. I'm pretty sure that would fit with no problems but I want to be sure.

I should add the rim is 15x7

I have 33x10.5s on my HZJ73, but it has about 3" of lift. Works real good and I have them mounted on 15x7 rims too.

I believe the 9.5's are a bit narrow for the 7" rim... The only 10.5 x 33's I found are BFG AT's and Mud's, Dunlop RVXT (IIRC), and some Interco's

The narrower tires will give you better fuel economy.

the skinny tire fits inside the fender better so a taller tire can be run on a stock setup with out rubbing...

I forgot to tell you about the rims: in the frts picture I have the actual rims (the grey ones) they are 16x7 and I think that for 10 or 10.50 tyre they're the best.
In the second pictures I have the original toyota rims, 5,5" but they are not so good for this measure.

Hi all, New here so be gentle on me.. I have a BJ74 with a 2" body lift running 35x10.5x15 Simex tyres, Generally 33x12.5s only just rub with no mods which seems to be fine, a small lift and I can fit 36" tyres under her.. Some people have issues with Rim width effecting the tyre rubbing on the front tierod, My 35s are on standard 8" rims and I have a set of 33x12.5x15 BFGs M/T on 10" rims and all seem to go well.

Hey all, im in need of tyre change as well... In thinkin the YOKAHAMAS Geolander AT II, found its a pretty good mud tyre and hangs on well on pavement. Any Opinions? also, i have some magnesium rims (15x10) with 32x11.5x15 dunlops right now... dont really like the setup, i have some mad wobbling at 70km/hr right now.

I was wondering, with the stock steel rims (15x7) readily available to me, and the 32x11.5x15 yokas on there, would that be the best setup? i can also go with 33's but i dont want the car to be totally dedicated for offroad and kill my fuel economy as well as my "performance"... what's everyone running!?

My FJ70 is running on the stock suspension...

thanks!

I had that mad wobbling at 70k:D I think it was the tie rod ends;) I found the 33 ok on fuel economy but your 32 should be fine also.
