Hello people.

I got to test some 33's and 35's today and needless to say i want to get some 35's. The 33's would be great but i just know i will get bored of them soon and want 35's especiially since they almost fit. The front seems acceptable space wise but i think my rear springs have sagged ALOT and there is barely any space for flex, even if i cut my guards. The problem is i dont want to get new springs front and rear because i dont want too much lift as it will probably lift it 3 or 4inchs over the height it is now, and all the lifts i have seen to date make your shackle angle vertical which will make me lose flex. What is everyones opinions on add-a leafs just in the back to level it out with the front. Resetting springs? Body lift? Or do you think 33's is the more sensible option.

If you cant tell from the photos the rear is about 1inch to 2inchs sagged compared to the front

if you have sag at the rear you have 2 options, add-a-leaf, rearch the leaf pack or add longer shackles..

as for tires go longer shackles front and rear, relocate the front cetering hole ahead 1" and drop the rubber bump stops. your actual upward articulation is hampered very little and your center of gravity is perfect...

hey mate, if you look closely at the pictures again i have already installed extended shackles front and rear. It lifted the front about 1 1/2 2inchs and barely lifted the back half an inch because they are pretty sagged. And i have already moved my diff forward an inch. I think i will look into adding a leaf into the back seems like the best option. And also give chopping my guards a go.

How do i go about dropping the bumpstops. What material should i use?

Yeah since the 35's would lift it over 2inchs from my previous tyres anyway i dont really want anymore lift.

Thanks

actually those look like typical anti reversal shackels which are very close to stock length.
extended shackles:
to gain 1/2" of lift you need 1" longer shackles
to gain 1 1/2" lift you need 3" longer shackles.

to extend the bumpstops then
take a floor jack and lift the one axle end up till the tire just kisses the fender.
measure the distance between the top axle flat bump pad. usually this is about 2".
take a peice of 2" square tube and drill for the holes that mount to the frame and temporarily bolt the tube on.
now hold the original bumpstop so that it lines up with the reciever pad on the axle and mark the attachment holes to the tube.
take tube back off frame.
drill new holes for hte original bump stop
bolt the bumpstop to the tube
bolt the tube to the frame
done

this will locate the bumpstop over the axle properly and will resist the tire from rubbing on the sheet metal.

there you go...

thanks for that mate. Sounds easy enough. And yeah they are extended ones, they measured about twice the length of the stock shackles that were on there.

What i have decided to do though...
1) Fit 35s that a recieve on sat
2) Go fishing for some second hand leaf packs and do my own add a leaf in the back
3) Cut the guards
4) If it still rubs Body lift
5) If it still rubs extend bumpstops

That way i will keep it as low as possible and keep as much flex as possible. What do you think?

To make it easier to find some springs, 60 series rears are the same as your rears. How much clearance you got to the bumpstops at the rear?

At a quick glance i have maybe 3inchs at the back and maybe 5 at the front.

If i were to get a standard 60 rear pack. What leaves would you reccomend to put into my old pack... or do you think i should get a standard pack and just replace it with my pack. Its gotta be better than whats on there. I know a few guys that have some old 60 rears. Might be arched a bit better than mine.

yeah ill whack the 60 pack in but if it still sags a bit what does everyone reckon will be the best leaf to put in and in what position. Im thinking one of the smaller leafs?

ps got my 35 MTRs today looks friggin awesome.
