I just moved the tyre carrier over a smidge on the door panel and when I ran 35's I also limited the door opening slightly.

@woytovich while you’re messing around with your carrier, would you mind taking some measurements to one or two of the bolts that mount it to the door? My rear door has the structure inside but the holes in the exterior sheet metal have been either welded or bondo’d over and I’d like to put a spare on the back at some point.
Also, what happens between the carrier and the sheet metal? Are there nylon or rubber spacers in there? The parts diagram doesn’t offer much in helping to tell the story - if you have any pics of the carrier off the door it would be huge.

Mark, my LJ77 is running 255/85/16's, so they are 33's and the spare does not touch the tail lights.

Is the troppy that much different?

My door is a little dented so that would bring the tire around a bit but I suspect the area around the tail light, the trailing edge of the rear quarter, is different.
