Anyone fit a 33" spare under the truck with or without mods?
If mods required what were they?
thanks

TRD Rock Warriors are offered by Toyota as optional 17" wheel (in lieu of the stock 18"). Toyota recommends BFG T/A KO in 285/70/17 (which, according to BFG, is a 32.8" tire). Based on that and what others are running on their 200 series, I think it's fair to say that the stock spare location will accept a 33" tire without issue. If you are going to use the RW wheels, you will have to modify the spare tire hanger to accompdate the RW itself (not the tire), which has been described in other threads.

Not the best pic, but the 32.8" BFG 285/70-17's fit in the spare tire area with no problem:

Are there any modifications that need to be done for the TRD Rock Warrior 17" wheel on BFGoodrich (BFG) All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires to fit in the spare tire location? If so, could you please link to the thread that describes the modification(s)? I have searched but wasn't able to find details on what needs to be modded.
Note: I fully typed out the tire and wheel to help with the search engine for future people with the same question.
Hi @PhillipPinot ,
All you need to do is dremel-tool off about an inch of the funky metal piece at the end of the chain that raises your spare tire. When you lower your old spare, and try fitting the spare chain lift piece through the smaller Rock Warrior hole, it will become obvious what you need to do. It literally takes only a few minutes. Dremel an inch off with a cutting disk...then spray a bit of Rustoleum to prevent rust... DONE! Now raise your new Rock Warrior spare into position as before.
I just mounted my Rock Warrior spare under my '17 LC and didn't have to modify the hanger to get it through the center hole. Mine looks different than the pick above in that it's a stamped steel piece. Is the only reason for the modification to get the hanger through the center of the wheel?
Does anyone know if a Ridge Grappler 285/70/R18 on the stock rim will fit in the stock spare location on a 2018?
Yeah, I saw the reply from @Angelo1 but I guess I missed what year LC he's got and if there's a difference in spare tire fitment per MY. I'm getting a BP-51 install done in February and I decided to go with new tires at the same time. Slee wasn't sure that the spare would fit with a 285/70/18 stock wheel, so I'm only getting 4 tires for now. If I can fit the spare with that size, then I will get it.Seems like if the 285/75/17 (33.8 diameter) fits then the 285/70/18 (33.7 diameter) should fit as well. Will likely need to remove the bracket by the sway bar.
Ok then, several people have confirmedA 295/70/18 is a biggest I’ve seen underneath. You’ll have to remove the bracket in the way.
