Had some 315/75/16 Toyo Open Country MT's installed, pretty sweet tires. I was not looking forward to the loss of performance, took it on the freeway today, not bad at all:) I was running 285's before. The engine revs up higher and the truck downshifts more but not annoying at all. I think I can live with it until I re-gear. I am currently running OME heavies and Mr.Gasket spacers upfront. I have OME J's and L shocks plus all the Slee Goodies to make it work right. I got the blue castor bushings from Slee so hopefully no caster problems, I am pretty wight down. I am going to install the new suspension this weekend. Here are some pics

you are going to like it. that is the set up i was riding on for the most part. if your truck sees and snow/salt be sure to blast those upper and lower rear shock mounts with some PB blaster. you can get the tops really well if you zap between the frame and body.

Thanks fellas, been wanting to do this for a long time. I ran 285 close to 5 years. Two sets of MTR's, so I am really looking forward to the new suspension. Will be flexing the truck at CruiseMoab 07:)

Navid,

Looking good!
I ran 35s for about 6 months before I re-geared. At altitudes is where you will feel the loss of power the most. Around town in the low lands is just fine. When you do re-rear, go for 4.88s...

I've had the same tires for about 8 months. They are the best tire I've had on a cruiser.

Regards

Alvaro

I have been creaming over a set of toyo mts. but cant seem to justify the money with as many highway miles as I drive. You definitely own the best set of tires made. Im glad someone can afford them. Congrats man lookin' goooooood.

Thanks Alvaro, I was sold on the tires when I saw them on your truck at Surf and Turf. The 80 is no rocket to begin with, I usually try not to speed, as long as I can maintain 65-75mph I'm happy. The tires weren't that bad. I downloaded a bunch of prices I found online and went to America's tires. Got the tires for $230 a piece. A good price considering they offer lifetime rotation for free.

I love your cruiser. It looks awesome.

Are those sidestripes the ones that say four wheel drive? I am getting some for my cruiser and was wondering if the gray would be to light against the green. They look good on yours.

Nakman right on:beer: I remember in a previous post you had mentioned you wanted a set of the 315 Toyo MT's, good for you bro, looking forward to meeting you, bought a set of your cool clear lenses for my ARB bumper a few years ago:) ERG80 yes those are the side moldings that say "fourwheel drive", I love mine and they look great against the green..

Did the sidestrips come on it or did you put them on?

I bought them from the local dealer and installed them. The ones that say "fourwheel drive" are for the 93-94 80's the plain ones that came on the 40th Anniversary are for the 95-97 models.

The 40th anniv. ones are discontinued. I like the four wheel drive written on it better anyway but they have tabs on them from what i've read. Did they have tabs that you had to cut off to be able to mount them?

Thanks

you can gently remove the tabs, the moldings have heavy duty 3M tape on the inside, heat the body with a blowdrier and slowly mount from the back working your way to the front. Pretty easy but stressful since they are very expensive. I had my buddy Robert's(cc93cruiser) father who is a body man help me do it.

Cool, Thanks.

I am still very happy with my 315 Toyo's

You won't regret it. They are heavey though. I like to watch the guys at Discount struggle to rotate them. :D
