My oil consunption has always been 1 qt 3000 mi after an oil change.
This is with 5w40 RotellaT syn. I had the same consumption with dino oil too.
After the 3000 mi it would consume 1 qt per 1000 to 2000 mi.
I would change the oil at 6000 to 8000 mi.

Now that I am homeless in Colorado, I have been driving 120 mi round trip to and from work to the motel. This is at 80+ mph up some mild hills where I have to rev up the rpms to keep it at 75 mph so the rpms are way up there.
It has been 3000 mi and this time I had to add 2qts.

Is there a probem?
Should I just keep adding oil?
Or should I go dino oil and change at 3000 mi?

Can't speak to what you should use, but it sounds like classic valve guide usage. I assume you've replaced the PCV valve - another classic oil consumption source?

Does not sound unreasonable considering you have 274,000 miles on the motor and you are running the wee-wee out of it in the mountains.

Last year I had some gas in the oil when I had the oil checked.
If I still have gas in the oil from a slow leaking injector, could gas in the oil cause oil consumption?

If gas in oil can cause consumption, this may be why my oil consumption increases as the oil get more gas in it.
