I think I know the answer, but I need to get some verification before I get too far ahead of myself.

My 64 FJ40 is getting front and rear disk brakes soon. My front axle is stock, so rather than deal with the hassle of the mysterious bushing, I'm planning to get a newer housing and inner shafts. I already have the mini-truck parts, and am doing this on the cheap.

Here's the part I'm not sure of. Can I use my 3rd member (stock 64) in the newer front axle housing?

Things I can think of: the studs are bigger on a 69 aren't they? Can I drill out the holes in the 3rd?

Side gears: Either pick up someone's spare set of 30-spline sides or buy a new aussie/LR - right? I've already got a lockright and I'd hate to go back to an open front...

Thanks,
Eric

Other than the stud sizes the third members are the same. As far as I know and I've done it before you should be fine drilling the holes and changing to a locker for the 30 spline.
