Me and a friend put a 3" body lift on my 55 last night. It took about 6 hours but we had to fix front cab mount and the rear body mount on the drivers side. The truck was already SOA but I needed more height to walk all over "BK40" and Chris Cole on the trail. ANyways it turned out pretty good and was overly difficult. Most of the original bolts came out and only had to lower the radiator and ended up driving it home. It is big, now I just need to pick up some tires from BK. I am going to run 36" swampers for now. I'll post some pics in the next few days.

ummm....

where's the pictures?

Just a question but why would you put a lift on an SOA? Once you go SOA it tends to flatten out the springs because of the way the pressure now sits on them. So if you pay for lift springs they will just get flattened out over time. So wouldn't it be cheaper just to rearch the original springs and maybe add a leaf.

Tim, put a body lift. not springs

come on out for GSMTR, you can watch tim put that 55 on its side...he's gonna have a pretty tall center of gravity....the sphinct-o-meter in his truck goes to 11

and what is BK doing for tires??? he must be going back to 33's LOL

also, whydya have to body lift when the soa already clears 36's? just curious...

I needed to replace a few and ended up buying 5 used ones....

as far as Tim needing the lift - something about an inferiority complex :grinpimp:

Actually I am running some Buckshot Mudders that are pretty much shot. They are somewhere around 35". They are rubbing in the back wheel wells. So I felt like I should get some more height to combat that. Oh and also BK40's truck was taller than mine.

On another note my 55 leans terribly to the drivers side. How bad is the lean on your trucks?

I'm thinkin' SKETCHY ! With stock axles i'd say pucker factor 12 +.

mine has the typical cruiser lean to the same side.. it is SO with stock springs (a couple added). I think the two additional cruiser leaves in the rear and the one additional one in the front helps me clear the 36 SX no issue.

Damm im glad the younger kids have big balls , my 55 with just a SOA is tippy on the Hard crap like the Hammers here in CA . With a roof rack on it was just stupid creepey down the trail . after seeing Josh soft side his on the Rubicon this year and Our BKs power roll I decided mine is high enough .

Power steering

We finished up the power steering on Saturday and got to take it for a test drive. What a difference! It is like i own a different truck. Still need to find a air cleaner to replace the stock one and make a shock tower. I post some pics this week to show the body lift and scout power steering. Thanks to Jon Jurlando, Chris Cole, Enoch Snyder and Brian Koerner for all there help!

Thanks to Iron Pig for the the good deal on the Scout box and bracket! www.ironpigoffroad.com

A few more things and I'll be ready for Tellico.

Tellico

Junk Driver,

Jon Jurlando wanted me to ask you how Tellico went. How did the big pig take to the trails.

Ryan.

Ryan,

My pig did about as well as your on the trail. :crybaby:

It was back in Cville waiting on a radiator. We installed the radiator the other night and created a new support from the firewall to the radiator support. It turned out nice but now it looks like I blew the head gasket. So on to the next project. I will have Chris Cole fix that and then I hope to be ready for the pig run in August. Will your truck be ready to wheel by then. It looks awesome.

Oh yeah asked Jon how many times he had to change the spark plugs down in Tellico. Oh and if you end up goign to Paragon with him. Make sure you tell him how to strap down his truck. He loves that.

Paragon

I am hoping to have it ready for August but you never know. Jon and I went wheeling Saturday at Madison and his 40 ran pretty good. We ended up towing a truck out that blew up a rear diff, t-case and transmission. I have my 55 sitting at an Auto Body shop waiting for Line-x, but a one week project has turned into a month. I hope you get your truck up and running. I would love to see some 55 on the trails even if mine isn't.

Ryan.
