3.4 idles roughly

    What going folks, I have a 99 taco trd 3.4, that is idles round 500 rpm's and then cuts out, off an on off an on thin it fine. thanks for your help.

    Have you checked your spark plugs? Make sure they don't have ash deposits and or black soot between the electrode and tip.

    I just changed the spark plugs not to long ago, now motor has 133 k on it but I will check plugs in the a.m.

    Tim,

    1) I would suggest a motor treatment, such as SEAFOAM, to get rid of carbon build up.

    2) Check the MAF and see if it is clean. If not, try to clean it with electrical contact cleaner. If that doesn't work, a new one may be in order.

    3) Replace PCV valve.

    Does the power loss ever occur during acceleration?

    Take it to an AutoZone, have them hook up a code reader to the OBD-II port, see what it tells you. They'll do it for free.
