Or am I using the wrong part number? I need a new motor for my 3B starter and wanted to do the legendary nose cone swap...

As far I can tell that's the correct number, looks like I'll have to get and aftermarket unit.

I could only find three options available:

REMY # DRS3019 for $180 plus a $50 core
VALEO # 455595 for $460 plus a $70 core
AUTOZONE # 16830 for $109 plus $30 core

(The toyota part was only $110, including $30 core, doh!)

Will try Autozone I guess.................

EDIT: Nope, Autozone won't let you order the 16830 even though they have a listing, none available. Oddly the Autozone 16830 crosses to a Remy 16830 which is available elsewhere for $120 plus $30 core.

Remy 16830 looks up properly on the Remy site (while the other Remy number, DRS3019, inexplicably does not) sooo I guess I'll try that.

Try looking for a mid 1980's 4Runner 1983-89, even the early 1981-1983 pickups.
If stuck I would have the starter rebuilt.
For the armature 28160-47040 most above year Corolla's and Camry's should fit.

I looked for 4Runner's and found a nightmare. The 1.4kW version is all over the place for them, but no one has the 2.5kW starter available under a 4Runner p/n or cross.

Very confusing.

I have a 1984 BJ42. When my starter gave up, I ordered a 28100-54090-84 from my local Toyota dealer and swapped the nosecone.
If you search westinl (member here) he posted the whole deal.

I think Georg (orangefj45) just did this in the last month or so for a 2H he's got of mine to convert it to 12V. Try contacting him and see if he uses the same part number or not.

List below shows other engines and with luck something will work
Try a Toyota Forklift Dealer they should have one or find one on an old reefer unit!
Your armature is 28160-47040 2.5kw is very common.
You may have to do some leg work but that's half the fun.
