Hi all,

I'm putting a 2LT from an 86ish Canadian truck into my '83 Hilux. I have a FSM for the US market 2L trucks (84-85?), but some of the vacuum lines and such are different for the turbo motor.

I've done a search....Does anyone have the Canadian or US market manual for the mid eighties 2LT?

Thanks!

directly to intake?

denis,

I was under the impression that those little gizmos that bolt on the side of the intake (VCV, Boost relief, etc) are needed. That stuff was missing when I bought the engine; I just found this out yesterday.

I mentioned to the owner of the shop that just rebuilt my IP and turbo that I planned to plumb directly to the manifold and he said..."running open vacuum to the turbo actuator will never let the wastegate open; you'll be running full boost all the time regardless of the throttle position or load on the engine".

I want the system to function correctly...I'm under the impression those little gizmos that I'm missing need to be there for this to happen...does anybody know where I can find these?

you would not run direct vacuum to the turbo actuator. Your turbo should have a direct boost line from the compressor housing outlet to the actuator. The only thing plumbed to vacuum would be the brake booster. The boost line to the injection pump typically comes from the intake manifold. At least that's how theses engines were setup before the emissions edvices and electronic controls were added.
