1983 hj47 with non turbo 2h diesel
When the timing is set at 18 degrees btdc as indicated at specs engine does not like it knocking etc
When timing is put to approx 8 degrees btdc is a lot smoother although black smoke under load
Could piston topple/slap explain this ?
Injectors are recently reconditioned
Engine compression test done which was good on each cylinder
Valve clearances set correctly at operating temp
