It is fitted to the Dyna trucks more so than Landcruisers. People complained about the extra service charge in the oil change. Also about it being messy to clean when doing it yourself so they were not that popular. My 2c I think they are excellent for all the carbon soot and impurities that is dumped in the oil by the 2H which is not really a clean motor. Would like one on my 2H.cheers

interesting .. why you said the 2H is not a really clean engine . ?

My saga continues. I got a pressure tester from Advanced Auto this morning to see if I could find an external leak in the cooling system. I get everything set up and the freaking pump they gave me doesnt work:rolleyes: They are ordering another pump but it wont be here until Friday.

On the bright side my Gregory manual came yesterday so I have some time to flip through it now.

Update!

I spent the day trying to track my leaks down and made some progress. The oil leak was in fact coming from the centrifigal filter. I didnt have any luck finding an o-ring the right size so I made my own gasket for the thing out of some gasket material I had laying around. That plugged the oil leak right up!:bounce: Its not a long term fix but its nice to plug it up for the time being.

This also made it obvious that I have a seperate cooling leak, more than likely from the oil cooler:crybaby: You can see from the attached pictures that I still have a decent drip of coolant coming from the general area of the oil filter head. I tried all the bolts in the area and the seem tight. I guess this means my next move will be to pull the cooler off. That looks like a decent sized job for sure!

I pruged and filled the cooling system as much as possible and for the most part all of the bubbles i had in the overflow are gone. I attempted to do the pressure test but I couldnt get the cap to seal right. Any time I got to 7psi it would start to fizzle out the pressure cap. My oil level has been steady and I dont see any signs of water emsulification.

Anyone have any pointers for an r&r of the oil cooler?

I havent done one but it may be easier to undo the engine mount bolts and jack the engine up as far as it will go for better access.
Vegard may be the best one to ask if he is around.
I looked at a 12HT recently that had a repaired oil cooler. They had used some kind of hard setting compound to plug it that seems to have lasted.
I think new ones are around $400 in oz.

Its no big deal to remove and replace the oil cooler but make sure the bolts go back in the way they are shown in the page I emailed you earlier, this is very important. As I suggested earlier I would remove some and inspect them to be sure they have been put in the correct way when the engine was rebuilt.
