Hello bbd, I used a magnet on a flex shaft that I got from the local hardware store to pull out the valve . The valves had some scoring on both but they looked fine. How do I get my hands on the longer valves to replace these with? I will call Toyota to see how much new ones are.

Thanks

Paul
Here the new ones are only about $20.00 but the aftermarket long ones were from about $70.00 earlier then droped to $50 to $60.00 as more started to make them.

I have not heard anyone having problems with the filter relief valve it is quite common however to have problems with the pump valve often with spectacular results. If you just lintch the filter bore and inspect it I feel this would be ok its easy to inspect. Then oil the bore and piston and replace it. You will need a small mirror to inspect the bore in the pump housing. If it cleans up ok then use a new standard toyota piston and spring. The aftermarket longer pistons are available from Oz , perhaps someone with a lathe could make you one if you have a contact. The standard spring is used with these as the longer piston just holds it square where the bore is not worn. I posted a drawing of one a fair while back in diesel parts for sale when I was trying to sell one for a bloke that ordered it and then never went ahead. There was a post some time back on this topic also. Generally the bore suffers the wear as the piston is much harder than the aliminium pump housing.

This is a picture of my oil pressure gauge after the relief valve jammed as you can see it went right passed the 100 lb pressure mark and bent the needle on the rest post. Well over 100 lb pressure. I reckon it would take about 2 minutes to pump the sump dry. Man was I lucky as I was told by a good bloke behind me as the shut off had not responded yet?????. LOL.

I changed the relief valve and spring for about $11CAD(jobber price):D and it does start up at 85psi now but it is still around 30psi when warm. Will changing the washer on the nut help this? I havnt chaged that yet.

Thanks

P.S. the engine was rebuilt b4 I bought the truck.

Also does anyone have the part # for the low oil pressure shut off for the 2h 24v?

Is this at idle? If so thats within specs, should build to around 80/85 psi at 3,000RPm. Also because the engine was rebuilt does this mean the oil pump was rebuilt? often not sad to say, have you indicated this previously.

As I stated in the last thread I have the address for longer the piston.I paid 50 or 60 aus.It fixed the high start up pressure perfectly. If any one wants any let me know or get the email from the link up the page a bit and sort it yourself.I am happy to help.

i'd like that email address... my oil pressure is very high at startup, then calms down a bit
