A good day got worse. My 2H developed a good oil leak behind the alternator bracket. My question is to replace the seals on the cover next to the Harmonic balancer(on the exhaust side of the motor) do I need to pull it? If so what else should I do while in there? Does anyone have the toyota part #s for the gaskets for the front of the motor?

yes, you need to pull everything to replace the seals.
I don't have the part numbers right now, but could look them up.
check ebay, there is a place that sells a complete gasket kit for a very reasonable price. Marv specter olso has the gaskets.

Have you made sure the oil hose to the back of the alternator is not the problem? These deteriorate from heat and oil and can crack. The hose goes from the block to the vacuum pump and also has a return hose for oil to the block. Best check them first, if you have all ready done so Take notice of what Jan posted hope its only a hose. cheers

Good call-that hoes leaked on both ends for me at some point, and made a considerable mess. You can take it off, and the copper washers for it are still available. The hose itself is not in the US, but you can get a new one from australia.

Not so lucky... I can watch the oil dribble out of the gasket when I throttle up the motor.. Thanks for the input. What other gasketa should I replace while I am in there? Has anyone done this repair before? If so how long of a job is it and how hard is it?
