Sweet!! I forgot to mention that if its pre-75 it shouldn't matter. Let me know how it turns out, I'm interested in this swap!!

There was some mention of the 6.2 - good engine, if you can find a good one. 95% of them (upon inspection with crack testing equip.) have serious bottom end problems. If you manage to find one that doesnt have cracks through the main webs....well its kinda like winning the lottery. (the 6.5 isnt much better)
Initially, I was going to do an SBC conversion. Bought a home and the money went elsewhere (to a good cause though). Also sold my Tundra to help with the DP.

Needed a running vehicle and cargo space and found a cheap, good condition diesel K2500 Suburban. I've been running it for a few years now. The 6.2 moves the heavy, lifted on 35's Suburban surprisingly well.

Since found myself a nice 80 series and have dumped money into that, but it also freed up the Sub. I was just going to sell it, but realized I've got some great running gear there that I could transplant. I will also remove the Hydro-Boost brakes and add them to the 40. I have a complete (minus crossover pipe) 6.5 turbo system and serpentine belt system sitting on the bench also waiting for the transplant. I would have to pay way more collecting bits and pieces to bring the 40 back to life, than what I could sell the Suburban for. Why not use it? Diesels are cool anyway, and a diesel 40, well . . .

Now, the question is . . . when?

BTW: From what I understand about 6.2 and 6.5 bottom end failures (cracked webs and broken cranks) is that the Torsion Dampeners (Harmonic Balancers) go bad and cause excessive vibration, resulting in failure. My original one looked decent, but I replaced it anyway for some insurance.

I can't wait to see how that turns out, I'm thinking about a diesel 40 too!!!

Deep Breath With Crossed Fingers

I guess I`m going to buy the 4bt on ebay, I`m going to start removing my worn out 2f today. I dont know if my 4-spd. trans will work or not. Anyone know about the engine mounts?

You may consider buying a Canadian FJ60 that already has a diesel. You can probably get the entire rig for what you are about to spend on the cummins. You then just pull it out of the Canadian FJ60 and put it in your FJ60. You will have every part that you need for the conversion plus a FJ 60 to part out.
