Haven't posted in a while. Have a 1970 FJ40 with a 2F, 3 speed (floor shift converted) and stock t case. I am starting a SOA as well as SM465 swap. I have a plate adapter for the SM465 from Shawn Russell here on the forums. While I have the drivetrain out I'd like to get a new clutch. I've not taken the current one out yet and measured but am guessing it will need replacing. The throwout bearing is starting to squeak so I suspect it's time to change the pressure plate, disc, and pilot bearing. Question is, what pressure plate, disc, throwout, and pilot do I need for the 2F mated to the SM465?

Thanks,
Stephan

The story is you need to use a GM clutch disk. Many people use an 11 inch disk and grind down the outer edge to fit the 2F pressure plate. When I did a 420 swap many years ago, I could not find a significant difference between the splines of a 2F disk and the GM disk. They fit the same, so I just used the Toyota disk.

When I did my SM420 swap, I used a 10.5" disc (I think the application was a 305 cid chevy v8). The splines on the the SM420 transmission input shaft are square, where the toyota splines are tapered.

Can I use a GM pressure plate as well? If so, I'd like to just buy a GM pressure plate/disc combo. Does the GM pressure plate bolt pattern match the 2F flywheel bolt pattern?
