Hi, Pulling the 1979 land cruiser head , valves were burned. Piston cylinders need to be honed, , is there a set of rings for honed not bored cylinders ? This engine has not been bored over. I plan on going s.s. valves (Elgin) for the head. Unless someone has found some thing better . Mike

As long as the ring gaps end up okay, you can use standard rings. That being said, honing will only take off a couple of thousandths, which means it won't remove scratches, fix taper or an out-of round condition. If you can feel a ridge at the top of the cylinder with your fingernail, it needs to be bored to do it right.
What are you seeing in the cylinders that you want to hone out?

Head gasket leaked or head crack. Seems to be surface rust . Not sure yet. Was going to see what the ball hone did first and have head magna- fluxed. Thought there was a set of slightly wider rings if ball honed. Mike
