My 3fe in my 88 fj62 was shot (lots of blow by) so We aquired another 3fe that didn't pan out to be any good either. So now I have a line on a good 2f. Question is can you make the 2f work with the auto trans or do I need to swap over the parts to make a 2fe?

3fe is de smogged

A LOT OF PEOPLE THINK THE FJ62 TRANS SHOULD MOUNT UP TO 2F. YOU SHOULD JUST SELL IT TO ME AND LET ME PUT A LS IN IT.

SUPPOSEDLY THERE IS A 3FE IN A 80 SERIES AT LKQ HERE ON RIVERS.

it'll bolt right up, might need proper bolts the flex plate is thinner than a flywheel...also, use an early flexplate; the later ones have larger diameter bolt holes. HTH

OS is onto something...but it'll work...and you'll only notice if you have a need for speed...

I would do a 2FE if I was in your situation, it will just add a little bit more work then you are already going to do.

As for flexplate bolts, your 88 is in the year where the 3FE flexplate bolts will thread into the 2F crank without worry.

Your auto trans will have trouble 'kicking down' when you floor it, unless you fab a linkage for that to the FJ60 carburetor...

2FE works great in a 62.

Just make sure you get a flat top piston 2F.
