Hi Guys,

I'm in the process of converting my FJ40 to an EFI setup based on the GM TBI and parts.
Already many treads are here about this item but I'm trying yo get in contact with Chet Wagner or Tom Quinn who both successfully did this conversion.
I would like to receive the SW for the GM computer. This would save me ton's of work.
Unfortunately the email addresses of both of them are not valid anymore.
If someone can help me with either proving the SW or bring me in contact with Tom or Chet that is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Han

Hi all,

I can't answer your question, but I found this forum on TBI conversions to be very helpfull. The poster called BillUSN1 is quite knowlegable about TBI systems.

Good luck!

Alan

I believe this is the link that Alan intended to post:

Chet Wagner can still be contacted on the Yahoo Land Cruiser EFI Group. I believe I asked him about his software sometime back, when Alan was having issues with his set-up, and I believe he told me that it was not readily available. You can try to contact him through the group, but it can take time to get a response since list traffic is pretty sparse these days. http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/LandCruiserEFI/conversations/messages

I have no current info on Tom Quinn.

You might try to contact Brandon Austin. I believe he still goes by OlympiaFJ60 on mud. I believe he may have used a modified version of Chet's software.

Good luck.

TBI Injection

Han, I won't say that Chet or anyone else has or doesn't have something better, BUT when we developed the TBI conversion for FJ's we found, through trial and error, that nothing worked better than the stock Chevy S-10 programming (but oddly enough auto tranny chip worked better than stick chip???).

TBI conversion

Also PM me For TBI installation instruction manual, it solves a lot of other problems beside sourcing parts (I.e. Harness through the firewall patching, linkage hook up, etc.).

Thanks for the valuble Info Jim.

Howell makes a complete kit that works well.

Georg @ Valley Hybrids

Also AFI- affordable fuel injection

Seen their kits on 2f to v8 rigs and they work great!
Great support and help!

Seen at least 8-10 rigs with their stuff and it's amazing.

Which software are you looking to get? The GM computer files or the 2F bin?

I have squirreled away some parts of this as well.

This site is a great resource.

I also had a look to all the available kits. Some of them are really expensive but the biggest cost adder is the shipment cost and the import duties added by our Dutch government.
This usually doubles the price.

The code I'm looking for is the 2F code for the GM 747 computer. Although, if I understand correctly, the S10 code would also do the job.

Have to say I'm positively surprised by all good response and help I get from you guys.

My main problem is that we have in the Netherlands mainly BJ40 and hardly any FJ40. So no help locally.

thanks again

I have a copy of an old bin file.

It supposedly worked, but I have not tried it.

I attached it here, hopefully you can copy it down.

I also don't recall where I got it.

Thanks Brad, I downloaded the file, quickly compared with the original one and see mods on places where i expect it, like spark advance etc....

I will look into more details but as a start it just looks fine to me.

Thanks a lot, also for the remaining information where I found tons of info and other bin files.

great and many many thanks :)

Han

Please post up your findings when you get this done. It would be great to have a new thread like this for the future.

I know for one, I will be going TBI.

Good luck!

yep, I will do that....I expect to have most of the components in several weeks from now and then I will start and post my findings/progress here.

regards, Han

What are you using to read the bin file?

For reading & writing I will use a HiLo ALL11 bench programmer.
Still investigating to use a 4K EEPROM wich is easier because they don't need to be erased by UV, but that will become interesting if multiple programming is required..

regards, Han
