Hi Bob

The part number is "81980-25050 FLASHER ASSY, TURN SIGNAL"

Have you opened it up and had a look inside? Sometimes it's easy to spot the fault and repair it.

Hi Tom

Yeah this is the second time ive been into it one of the contacts burnt right out so done a temporary with a spade connector worked for 6 months, fitted a new temp flasher and now have another problem indicators working but no hazards any thoughts ? New oem flasher coming from Beno.:deadhorse:

81980FLASHER ASSY, TURN SIGNAL
81980-250501......$78.92

I have this number listed for 81 BJ41 JDM don't see 41 in European market.
Hazard switch should have a built in relay separate from flasher relay IIR.
I get confused at times with so many combinations in my fleet of Cruisers

Thanks Dieseler

41 is a JDM, 40's were not imported into the UK something to do with Land rover at the time. Can you tell me where the hazard relay is located ?

OK this pic was sent to me that shows a JDM market flasher relay for a 1982 BJ41 24V Part # 81980-25050.
This is a THREE terminal relay with terminals labeled B (Battery or +12V) L1 and L2 which I am assuming are Load 1 and Load 2. I cannot find a BJ40,41,42,43 schematic that shows a three terminal flasher relay. Logic suggests that the L1, L2 terminals are the same and possibly one goes to the turn signal circuit and the other goes to the hazard circuit. I have to also assume that the flasher grounds itself through the mounting bolts.

A "normal" three terminal flasher relay has a B terminal (Battery or +12V), E (Ground) and L (Load) I am trying to figure out if a standard three terminal LED flasher relay rated at 24V could be adapted to work.

If you have a schematic that shows a three terminal relay please post it. Or if you know that L1, and L2 are the same contact on the flasher relay, post that information. Trying to help out a fellow mudder...

One more request that may help me figure this out. A pic of the wiring and connector that plug into this flasher relay would be appreciated... Need to see the wire colors going to the connector.

I'll take a few pics tomorrow.

Hi Coolerman

Thanks for the assistance what I do know is that b takes the battery and 1 & 2 are flashers and hazards Ill take some pictures today of the terminal, The issue with mine is the contact for the flashers burnt out but the hazards were okay so I used a little set of jump leads from the terminal to swap them around so I have flashers.

24 volt flasher units are common on Japanese trucks

Yeah this is a BJ41 only available in Japan.

I meant the kind of truck that delivers things to shops. Hino ,Isuzu Bedford etc. Or are these a 1 off special that only works on a BJ41?

The problem is the original has 3 pins 1 for battery 1 for flashers 1 for hazards and earths by bolting it to the firewall, most modern relay hav a separate earth pin .

This flasher would have been used in 24v Japanese BJ4x cruisers from 02/74-09/84. Below is a pic of the color of wires if that helps any.

Wes, I'm wondering if you can tell me what that round thingy is above your flasher unit in that pic. I'm working on wiring and tested that round thingy and it let out a loud, annoying screech with 24 volts applied. I thought this might be the flasher I'm looking for, but sounds like an alarm or something.
