Got tired of waiting in the other thread?

I looked at the FSM, you will have the resistor as the only voltage drop in the system. On the primary glow circuit.Secondary circuit(I know you are not using this) has another resistor as well.

I am guessing 12-14 volts. As the plugs listed in a another part number section on here say they are 14 volt plugs.

Did your new plugs have a voltage rating on them?

I actually bought them from a buddy of mine that just parted with a 24v bj42, CDM spec...

they are brand new and half price, funny thing is just got them last week thinking I wouldn't need these for a while... bah

the number on them is 2188 Y-197R they are NGK glow plugs

I'm searching for info on them right now....

it seems like my resistor isn't stepping down the power, but the only way the engine manual tells you to test it is to make sure there is continuity between the terminals which there is...

I switched to this thread so I could as a specific question, as I kind of had a bunch of stuff flying around, and this is my daily driver so I am a little impatient... Sorry to post muiltiple threads on the same topic.

I very much appreciate the help Brown bear

cheers
Eric

Does anyone know the proper volts reading I should get off the bussbar on my 1986 bj70 24v CDM spec?

Eric, I don't have any 3B engine that has superglow installed, or even the Wilson switch to a 3B on what was a superglow system...otherwise I could check.

Someone that has the Wilson switch installed, and the resistor still installed on what was a 12V superglow system could check what the voltage is at the glow plugs...and you interpolate from there.

I don't think it really matters much. With the switch installed you are the one controlling the glow cycle. Lower voltage plugs will glow up faster then higher voltage ones. The fellow the Wilson switch is named after had is Superglow 6V-12V plugs in for years after turfing the timer.
