I saw nicks thread and thought I would ask what the 24 volt folks are using in their rigs. I have looked at a few different brands and I am lost. What are the pros and cons from first hand experience with Warn, Superwinch, Ramsey, Etc..? And what weight capacity are you using?

Well it is 24 volt..... but if you posted in the outfitting section you would get more responses. This area is limited in traffic.

Warn 24V 8274. Time proven, good line speed.

My BJ73 is getting an OEM 24volt electric winch installed. My BJ42 has a hydraulic winch with 24volt solenoids.

I have two 24V 8274s (one used extensively, one brand new in box)... and they are in a totally different world when it comes to winching compared to a 12V unit... they winch longer, faster, harder, and don't heat up... and puts all the 12V stuff I've seen and used to absolute shame.

If you want a side by side, bring someone to my shop for a demo... and make sure they have a 12V winch they want to torture :D

Are these for sale?

x4 or x5 ... Warn 24v here as well. I've put it to good use and agree with above statements. you might inquire as to rewinding a 12 volt motor to 24volt? It might be a cheaper solution.

I have done the rewind on a xd9000i with poor results. Turns out a 24v polished turd is still a polished turd. You'll need two 24V relays at the same time.

I recommend buying or converting a 8274 to 24v or simply using a 12V 8274 on 24v. They last surprisingly well. In reality the voltage at the winch during a hard pull is not high anyway.

uh oh, i have done this... spooky fast line speed, keep your hands clear! did i mention how fast the cable goes? it's really fast!

swapped out to a 24v unit after a "close" call. i still have both my hands BTW.:D

I've been using a Warn M12000 24V, it has been on the truck for the last 15years without issue. I changed the wire rope once!

factory warn 8274

In the last 2 years my Warn 24v 8274 has recovered semi's, skid steers, Parks Canada garbage trucks, snowmobiles, not to mention a slew of cars and trucks.
