Hi All,

I have a solar converter to take my 24V down to 12V. I'm looking run VHF, map lighting, cellphone/cooler power sockets and my cd player and amp.

Right now the player is suplied by spiking 12V off of the battery. I'm not sure how it was setup but the radio works off the switch in the ignition. Previous wiring is kind of dodgey and it will take a while with the dash apart to figure out what was done.

My question. Can anyone desribe the wiring layout from the converter, through ignition switch and to the radio. If anyone knows the wire colours in the ignition, this might be useful too.

I have a 1990 1HZ73 .

Thanks

John

I found the ingition \,"on" wire for the old radio and used it to power a 24v relay. Comming from the fuse block I installed, powerd from the convertor, which has con stant 24v down to 12v I went through the normally open contacts on the relay to the ignition wire on the deck. I the took another feed from fuse block to deck constant power. I am not sure if wire color would be the same as my cruiser you may need to grab a meter and start testing but I will check at some point this weeknd re color.

John, you should have a power box underhood, which will have a constant, acc, and ign supply points. Nice, simple, keeps the converter underhood, and you simply run the 12V line into a fuse strip inside the truck, or to your 3rd battery. I've sent you a PM too.
