I'm averaging between 14.5-15.5mpg, stock other than 33s and some plasti-dip

My commute is 95% highway and I rarely get over 65mph.

Any time you can get 100 or more on mile markers you are really improving accuracy-hard to imagine those markers are down within feet. Have always done this multiple times with a vehicle that is new to me then have a correction factor to multiply by until I put on different tires. On the flat highway wind resistance is a huge part of the engine load. If you can get a 30mph tailwind on these non-aerodynamic trucks it would have to make a BIG difference on that trip. Checking mileage especially with a calculator on your phone is so quick and easy. Whether you can do a lot about it is another matter but I like having it as a general reference to the overall vehicle condition. Sudden steady change for no reason means a problem.

I'm calling Shenanigans.

260 miles on a full tank if its Frwy miles. Most ever, when I purposely ran out of gas, was 310 miles. We have a 26 gallon tank. The math doesn't add up.

AND it's a rebuilt motor with 33s. My 60, with also a rebuilt motor, gets ~220 miles per tank but I've got 35's.

How early on did you do those mods? That mileage makes sense with a supercharger, big lift and large tires, but at stock something isn't right.

I am pretty much stock and on freeway tanks I'm usually around 350 miles per tank. I have gotten over 400 miles on a tank at mostly 65mph highway driving. (about 17.3mpg). In town I feel I have a well maintained, but relatively unmolested truck.

How fast do you drive on the freeway? That could be a big difference. Also, if you haven't corrected for the larger tires, those mileage figures will skewed. Furthermore, we should probably go off of mpg, rather than miles per tank. I almost always fill 20 to 22 gallons, but others could vary a lot.

That said, 20 seems like a dream. Getting 33% better than rated fuel economy doesn't really seem possible unless there is some external factor.

I have achieved 21.5 mpg with my 95 cruising around 45-50 mph in colorado from Telluride to Moab when I was driving behind a slow truck. That is the best I have gotten so far, It is quite accurate as my brother achieved 20mpg with a Yakima mega warrior basket on top right behind me traveling with the same speed. But if I were to drive 80 mph on freeway, the mpg will be around 12mpg! Go figure. :bounce:

Well, if we all had a truck to draft..........:meh:

When I first got the ultra gauge, it was showing about 16mpg, after calibration it has settled in at 13.4...... I'll take it ;)

When i first got my lx, i could get 360-380 miles out of a tank of gas (no effinal). Even after changing to 285/75's, i could still get 340 (non adjusted,so adding 10% to offset the increase in tire size), it worked out to be about the same. i would average 18-21 gallons per fillup. Now that ive got 150,000 more miles on the truck, i can get 320 miles(adjusted) out of a tank, even with our crappy 10% effinal fuel. In the summer, it drops by about 10-15%, and it occasionally hits the knock sensors on takeoff. I really dont like that. I live in relatively flat ground. Anything over 65 i can watch the fuel gauge move.

The highest I've gotten was on flat ground for multiple round trips between raleigh and greensboro. 62 mph, no 2nd row seats, no 3rd row seats, nothing in the truck, spare underneath with stock michelins at 40psi. no ac (cool autumn days and nights), and drafting semis wherever possible. i was able to get back to back tanks of 420 miles and 409 miles. 22 gallons, and 21 gallons. Speed was measured by GPS.

Yesterday, I did a similar round trip....in a rush to get to raleigh(72-75 via gps), and fought rush hour traffic coming home until i got outta the metro area. coming home was mainly 4 lane hwy (non interstate), and i set the cruise to be gps indicated at 62-65. I pulled in my driveway with a touch over a half tank, adjusted mileage was about 175 miles.

After filling up for hwy drivin, i try to get 80-100 miles out of the tank before it drops to 3/4 tank. if i can do that, i can hit 300 adjusted per tank before a fillup...all bets are off if the speed gets over 65.

I'll try to get average readings on a 2000 mile trip up to WI next weekend. Fully loaded with gear and 2 peeps. Fresh tires, fresh fluids, and a whole lotta driving.

I drive home from work around 1am... just because I'm a nerd, I sometimes find a truck to draft. My MPGs in my 2012 Journey V6 jumps from about 26mpg to around 35-38mpg. I pick up at least 10mpg by drafting.

there has to be something wrong with my truck. I'm getting 12.0 to 12.8 MPG highway (65 to 70mph)
would love to see the 16mpg that they were rated for.

I've tried ethanol free, 93, interstate with no stops between gas, only got 14. Never seen 15 or more.

With complete rebuild, new injectors, SC, armor and 315s I can no longer get more than 200 miles per tank. I've given up all hope of getting better mileage.

With my 12 to 13 I'm happy though. Family is safe and it's a lot of fun.

That is strange. I think I'm getting closer to 300
the last trip, our planned gas stop was 243mi out... i'll have to keep better track next time. Under 200 range doesn't sound right for some reason.

Damn! Even when the truck was brand new with zero mods I only hit 300 maybe twice and it was from doing 55 on the hwy without stopping, in cruise control, AC off.

i may be crazy but I'll ask my friends. There were 3 80s... but I did see that our planned gas up was at 243mi on google maps

My (stock) truck regularly goes 320 (with mixed hwy / city driving) before I put 20 gallons in it again.
Best mileage ever was 17mpg and I track this w/ every fill-up.

I saw 18+ mpg while driving through a snowstorm that forced me to keep it to maybe 50mph on a long, straight highway. That's the only time I've experienced that (the mileage, not the snowstorm!)

I've seen 16 mpg a few times and above 14 frequently on the highway. No roof rack or running boards/sliders, spare tire tucked under the rear, so pretty slick except for the ARB.

Lots of flat terrain and we're at about 800 above sea level here, so that helps. I gotta get this thing to Colorado. On the way back east all the way to KC is when I usually get best gas mileage on the vehicles I've owned, because it's more downhill than up.

For best gas mileage you want to keep the tack at or below 2000 rpm. The truck is set to 1990 EPA standards which is driving at 55 mph.
