I talked to Wade this morning, and got clarification on the chainsaw class and re-certification options.

Mar 7 & 8 (Sat & Sun) Annual USFS Chainsaw Certification Class: Req'd. for all persons who do not yet have a USFS Chain Sawyer certification. You must register with the Lee District station (Stephanie Chapman) to attend. The mandatory classroom session on March 7 @8:00am will be at the Lee District Ranger Station in Edinburg, VA. A follow-on field skills instruction/test will be administered on Mar 8 @9:00am (weather permitting). Location will be announced in class on Saturday. The field test is flexible and can be scheduled at a mutually agreeable time with the instructor after the class if you can't do both Sat and Sun in the same weekend.

NOTE: This class already has 20 persons signed up so it will be crowded and they might cut-off registrations. If you want to attend, you MUST send an email to Stephanie Chapman within the next few days. She can be reached at stephanie.l.chapman@usda.gov 540-984-4101 (phone)

Re-certifications Only
(this is the field skills test only for experienced sawyers, required for renewal of certification; this renewal will be good for 3 years)
Feb 27 @9:00am at Elizabeth Furnace
Mar 10 or 12 (date tbd) @9:00am; location will likely be Wolf Gap due to the number of WV sawyers needing re-cert.

There will be one more weekend session scheduled at the end of March, date and location to be determined.
