Unless you have a flip-phone, your phone is still listening to you :D

And why wouldn't those too?

I don't doubt their capability but for some reason I mostly trust the fact that I didn't give consent to keep me out of the mass-scale commercial listening. Not that almost any room you walk into doesn't have multiple phones with Siri or OK Google enabled already..

BTW, my 2016 doesn't have CarPlay but it does have Siri Hands Free. Which I use a fair bit. As for this special edition, as I said earlier I don't think it is to increase demand but to help push the remaining parts inventory out the door before coming out with something new. Think Land Rover LR4 Landmark edition. When that something new happens is not certain. But I would expect it in 2021 or 2022.

I still want CarPlay. I want to be able to see Waze or Google Maps on the large infotainment screen, rather than my phone.

I think it looks awesome. I love that the third row seats are gone but at the same time, I always thought the fold up seats were neat. I like my coolbox a lot so I'm kinda bummed that it's gone. The cosmetic changes are awesome and I appreciate them making something special for the consumer, even if it's just a few cosmetic changes and some deletes. I also believe this will precede a new model so here's to 2021!

I too like the cool box particularly on long trips.

I’m still waiting for this edition.
With this option + LRA sub tank?
-500 miles non-stop! :flush::steer:

Good grief, what a bunch of debbie downers!!!

Toyota makes a factory special edition with things that everyone in here does to their 200 and you complain? WTF?

Complain about the lack of storage space because of the coolbox, so they make one without it.
Complain about the third row, so Toyota takes it out.
You take off the running boards, so Toyota now sells them without them.

Updated headlights, cool trim, etc.... Bronze colored BBS???

Whats not to like?

Every single one of you would take one of these over a normal black or white one in heartbeat, so what are you complaining about?

I think its awesome.

I removed my running boards and the third row seats and almost never use the cool box. I’ll be looking into this, I like it......a lot.

Love those BBS forged wheels ! Probably less expensive to buy those than Rock Warriors these days. I wonder what the weight difference is between Rock Warrior 17", BBS Forged 18" and stock wheels...

How many cruisers do they sell new per year? (And what percentage of that total will the 1200 of these be?)

I’d bet the dealers will be asking a lot for these given the fact it’s a limited edition of such an already rare vehicle. Or I’d expect the vulture instinct of most dealers to push them in that direction anyway.

Basically you can create a HeritageEfition:
-Turn off coolbox & throw junk in there...
CHECK!

-Yank third row seats...(15 minutes & done)...
CHECK’

-Yank side steps (15 minutes)...
CHECK!

-Aftermarket wheels of your choice...
CHECK!

In other words...

YAWN. :hillbilly:

But it’s ok. Toyota is doing the standard, end-of-life-before-update dance. Nothing wrong with that...but its still pretty much a yawn event. :meh:

Between 3000-4000 since 2016

Oh come on.
No one is being weird.

Pretty simple to me:
-All changes are either cosmetic, or already doable (turn off coolbox & throw junk in there...(30seconds & done)...remove third row seats...(15 minutes & done)...add your own wheels...(always available)...pick a color.

In other words...

YAWN.

I think a collective yawn is all you’re seeing here. Cuz let’s face it... Nothing particularly new up there.

Im sorry, but that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

We haven't had a 5 passenger Land Cruiser in the US in 22 years. Thats new.

Guarantee you these things will bring a premium for years to come, just like 40th Anniversary and Collectors Edition 80s do.

I ask again, whats NOT to like about this version compared to the regular one?

Sheesh man.
Nothin “bad” about it.
Just that it doesn’t really offer anything we can’t already do. Double :meh::meh:

I reserve the right to be less excited that you. LOL

Lmao.....I love this place.

I swear its like the twilight zone sometimes! Half the forum is about running boards, cool boxes and third rows and then Toyota makes one just like they want and people complain. Bizarro-world!

According to @FJ73Texas they weigh 31.7lbs. My RW’s on my bathroom scale weigh 23.7lbs with fake BL rings, 21.5 w/o rings. Not sure on stock LC but our stock LX weigh 36.2  on the same scale.

Edit: at least everyone can agree that white is the far superior color for a LC so I’m glad it’s available in that color ;)

Heehee...
I guess if I were in the market for a brand new $85,000 cruiser… and I could save $10k for not buying seats, coolbox and running boards...I might I raise my eyebrow a millimeter or two.

Kinda like this guy...

But I have a funny feeling this won’t be a monet saver.

Lol, I was going to upgrade my suspension in my 2011 but now if the price is right, screw the suspension I’ll just upgrade my LC instead.

I’ll have to check it out at the Chicago Auto Show next month.

Hit me up when you go there we can do ih8mud meetup. I wish Toyota had gone out with an exclusive TRD style model with 35s.

FYI they opened a new car wash next door and I am getting car washes daily for free. You are going to need to do fluid film twice a year now.
