Dang it Grinchy, i typed it out and deleted this:In that case no need to stop at 35”, proceed directly to a Tundra wide front end, 37”, and a bracket lift.
I think Atwalz among a few others has it going on.
Seems simple enough, as there are examples I can follow on mud. I will take it easy on her until I can find a local shop that will do it properly (or get tools/learn to do myself). Maybe one of the local NC shops ran by fellow mudders?
I spent some time doing some soul searching this morning, and realize that it just isn't the mud way, to go with simple, easy & cookie-cutter. No, I come here looking for pioneers and to learn from the best in the open-source/public sector. I realize that if i wanted 33s or 34s or anything but the biggest size possible for my LC/LX, that i could be asking on any other forum.
@TeCKis300 So just take it easy on her until I can afford both a BMC and UCA? But definitely drive-able for normal/lighter use until then?
CAN WE GO... BIGGER?
Normal use means just using her to get to and from work (legally, she wont pass inspection right now due to tire tread), until she has what she needs to tackle the trails. Normal use = pavement and very wide turns if needed, like I'm driving with trailer attached. I was planning on babying her while she's on 35s and awaiting surgery; slow on throttle until regear, wide & slow turns until BMC. I am aware that my speedometer will be a little off until a proper re-gear, and I am okay with salvage yard hunting for tundra gears.Depending on your definition of normal use. IMO, it's not drivable and will rip up the tread and fenders.
I'm a big fan of @MTKID 's direction rather than bracket lifts. Or more inline with what Monica and Canguru racing. Overall lower center of gravity as it keeps the chassis lower. Bracket lifts are a strange animal in my mind as they don't really create clearance under the axles. but lift everything higher. Yes, this can help angles to a degree. Perhaps difference is whether the focus is more on rock crawling?
Have you ever considered a set of portal axles and going slightly wider/longer axles and much bigger/wider tires? If I were to take my car to the next level, and believe me I've been pondering. Maybe after I get a Cybertruck and can modify the LX more to toy status, but still keeping all of its great usability:
1) 37s
2) 1" body lift
3) +25 offset
4) 4.88
I struggle and think maybe long travel and Tundra arms are the right solution at that aggressiveness level. Scrub radius then requires pushing out the tires even further than the track width increase of the Tundra arms. Then the cascading need to match rear axle width, which would take a huge ~2" spacer. Or is the right answer to graft in a Tundra rear axle too? Then is 1" body lift enough and would still need to cut a bit of the fender lips. Then all the aesthetic considerations and fender flares?
I think that's honestly the best route. Go all out in US/dream tires, and swap, if needed, when i leave for my travels. I could even keep it and swap for a fresh set when i get to the Philippines or Vietnam (my birth country and also where much of the world's tires/rubber comes from). Most of the rest of the world 4x4 are on 15 or 16" rims. Even now in lots of the parts of the world it is hard to get 17" tires. If you want to be world compatible your best choice that will fit the 200 is a 17" rim. And then you want to cap it at 33" tire MAX, probably better off with 32" tires, as then you could run it with an unmatched 31" or 33" if you had to.
My bet is you'll wear out whatever 35" on 20 you choose now before your truck finds a container to be shipped about in, and if not, maybe you'd leave the 35" on 20 in the US and refit to a world compatible tire size at that time. I agree, you won't likely find a 35" on 20 common many places globally.

So i have just another slight curveball, but i look at it as blessing in Disguise.
What rear bumper are we getting? Kaymar?
Reason i ask is because i got rear ended on the way home. Will take pictures and access damage/deal with insurance tomorrow.
LX is fine though, mechanically speaking... drove right off after i got the police report, but other car (honda civic) is scattered across 3 lanes. Driver is fine but expressed shoulder pains (insurance things). My phone was dead so no pictures, but maybe it will end up in the news since it was like 10 cars involved. I was the 4th car in the pileup, and i stopped in time. Person behind was on the phone i think and just slammed right into me about 10 secs after i came to complete stop.
Was a little funny when the officer was accessing damage and asked if she needs a tow and i told him a firm no, he was looking back and forth like damn... barely scratched versus the other car being totalled. I am literally driving a hybrid tank, even the impact itself wasn't that bad from the inside. No airbag deployment.
So i'll take care of the tires, i really want those damn Baja Boss @ 35x12.5r20 now so let's settle it at that and get her rear-end sorted out. There is a warehouse/major tire wholesaler 1 hour from me (parrish tires) so i will see if they can source it for me for a good price. I know their google reviews suck but they are legit and warranty is covered by manufacturer anyways, and they have best prices i have found. Just find a listing on their ebay and offer them 15-20% less for local pickup, ask to pass along ebay fees and shipping fees as savings for you.
I was planning on re-gearing to tundra gears when i add front and rear bumpers later this year, but this pushes that to near top priority since rear bumpers are going to be needed sooner.
Now we are adding the additional strain of the 35x12.5s, as well as weight of a heavy-duty rear bumper. Definitely time for those tundra gears.
My top question for today and tomorrow:
Which shop in NC is my best bet for properly accessing damages to a 200-series LX, and can install an Aftermarket instead of replacing it with OEM for me?
@TRAIL TAILOR ? @OTRAMM in VA? (few hours from me).
Really really appreciate the concern brother.Glad to hear you are alright! You might be sore some tomorrow or the day after.
Sad to hear you were in an accident at all that stinks.
Good that some good might come of it!
Victory says theirs fits a LXSlee and Dissent native fitment for LX.
I don’t recall any others with LX off the shelf, could look at Arb. Maybe TT, but my recollection is he was looking for a car to model, do fitment on. wouldn’t hurt to check.
We spent some time a few months back trying to see if kaymar could go and it looks like one bracket would need to be fabbed, same as RLC needs.
Other folks may be more up on it. . .
I don't know who has the power to make it happen or if they'll ever see this, but our boy @grinchy over here really deserves mod status; with just the help he's given me alone! I know if i was running a forum, the kind of people who step up to help without asking for anything in return, and who even seem to enjoy it, are exactly the type of people who are perfect for the job.Victory says theirs fits a LX

Exactly what i knew you would say, and that's another reason why you're perfect for the job. When the right people do not want the job, the wrong people will end up getting it. I imagine every mod here has earned it by stepping up to help in their own way, just like you are. Please, don’t mod me. Knowing random 200 details isn’t laudable.

But this is neither the place for this talk, i just wanted to slip it in between the tech talk; nor am i the man in charge.
I updated previous post to show what i really had in mind when going down my own manufacturing route, maybe TT can speed up the process. I don't even want credit i just want a copy for myself! I really want to park my ride-on LX inside real LX.
Can it swing out far enough to clear a path for an ATV Ramp built into the bottom hatch door? Do you have any pictures of it without anything on it, and fully swung open, or at least 90 degrees or more?
