Things are going well, I have no complaints here! Ever since the virus thing started I no longer have any obligations until schools and nail salons reopen again, and even then I only have 1 week of school left. Until then I am just spending my days looking for good views and just enjoying the peace and quiet while I still can. I’m really grateful for all this time I get to spend with my dog.

Today I spent looking for good fishing spots and cooked some burgers for me and Tiger. On top of that nothing bad happened so I call that a good day.

Speaking of land cruisers, I saw this 60 series at the lake today and I had to stop and admire how clean it was! Forum member maybe?

LOL! Yeah he’s 115 lbs last I checked and probably higher now. He eats everything I eat but just a bigger portion... that includes everything including ice cream and steaks.

Its actually a good thing that he has such a hearty appetite seeing as how I do not have a fridge yet. This means that when I buy things like ice cream and milk, that we have to eat and drink it same night. Even when I am craving ice cream I only eat about 2 cones, so thanks to Tiger the other 4 doesn’t go to waste. He also drinks about 2/3rds of each gallon of milk. I have a ton of footage of him enjoying various food and one day the world will know why he’s so fat lol. I also plan on doing live “Feeding Tiger” streams once I get my mobile stream setup in case other people will enjoy watching him eat as much as I do.

I actually thought I lost him a few weeks ago when he ate at least 3 lbs of bbq short ribs, including at least 50 bones. My uncle asked me if he could have some and I thought nothing of it, since he has eaten them before, so I said yes. Well I got distracted while Tiger hit up the buffet and next thing you know he really does look like Chonkers. I forgot that my uncle is very generous when it comes to food...

He was so full he didn’t even want anymore... and we are talking very delicious bbq short ribs... like Korean bbq style. I’m salivating just thinking about it and me and him just ate some burgers. That was also the first time I’ve seen Tiger tap out on meat in the 8 years I’ve had him. He will stop eating most things like fries and Mac and cheese when he’s full but with meat he doesn’t know when he’s full... until that day. I mean the poor guy couldn’t even get up in the car, and when he finally got halfway up he fell back down. I had to push him up. He also walked with a limp like he wants to poop but couldn’t, for a week. During that time he did poop but no bones came out until almost a week later... by then most had been digested.

I spent that night sleeping near the animal hospital in case he started acting lethargic or in case I found blood in his stool or in case he didn’t poop. Thankfully, he was fine minus the limping in the rear.

I imagine that it will go down in his mind as the greatest day that ever happened, and in mine as the day I almost killed my dog with bbq short ribs.

Anyways, here are some pictures from today As proof he is alive and well lol. We had a nice long hike, found a new fishing spot, ate some cereal, cooked some burgers, Met some nice people and enjoyed some angelic views. Today was a good day and I am so glad my dog isn’t dead lol.

Reminds me of a dog my parents had for a little bit. She was a sweet thing, named precious. Big boned lab beagle or something. She could put it away. Ate a stick of butter and then another time a whole loaf of homemade bread. She was slow so if you caught her in the act you were good

Just picked up humble Steve. I was letting some homeless guys use him but they are done So he’s back with me.

The 100 dollar carrier from harbor freight works just fine minus the blocking rear access part. At first I was thinking that I needed something like the Ultimate MX hauler with hydraulic lift to make loading and unloading easier, but then I figured out that I can just walk the bike up the ramp while letting it’s own motor do the pushing so the hydraulic feature isn’t as needed. Having AHC is nice here.

So now I am just considering something like a RakAttach that will let me swing the bike to the side to Enable rear access.

Still researching the awnings, seems like the cheapest 270 is about 370 by Danchel Outdoors from China, and about 700-1000 if you want the walls with it. As far as normal awnings go the danchel one is priced just as high as the ARB one for a similar size and with walls. There are only a few cheaper than ARB and I could not find an option for walls with those. As of right now i am still leaning towards ARB for the normal awnings, and might pick up one of these Chinese ones for the 270.

Danchel does offer one version that is big and cheap with a diagonal wall for shade on one side, about 200 bucks. The thing about these Chinese ones is that the mounting hardware sucks, but I was planning on buying L brackets and mighty mounts separately anyways. The L brackets are really small from them. Also some of them have the awning zipper on the top and not bottom, and it isn’t sealed so water and dirt can get into your awning over time. Other than that it seems like it could be a good deal for someone who is aware of what they are getting.

I am thinking one normal awning with room like the ARB and then 1 270 without room for now, and add room later, or just go 270 with room and call it a day.

I just realized as I left the lake/greenway today, that there was 5 land cruisers in the parking lot. It’s a small parking lot with maybe 30-40 spots total.

The nice 60 series from yesterday is back, along with another 60 series pictured below. There was 2 100 series as well that I didn’t spot til I was on the way out. Add mine and you have 5! Sadly I didn’t take pictures of the 100s before I left but i did talk to the owners of both, who both have other land cruisers (40 and another 100, so one dude has two 100 series that he bought new). One used to be a mud member but since he has 2 kids now he hasn’t been on in a while.

Gotta love how I can approach any cruiser owner and talk like old friends! Everybody was more than happy to talk about their babies when I asked/approached them. Let’s just say that if you are a cruiser owner within my proximity, then there is an almost 100% chance that I will come up and compliment you on your great taste in cars lol. I literally tried waiting for the 60s owners to show up to praise them for the great care they have taken with their 60 series, but they apparently like to stay out on the trails all day.

Edit: Went back and the black 100 series was gone, but now there is a white one instead. 6 land cruisers! Mine is the only 200 series. The owner of the green 100 scratched his head a little bit when I told him I paid 18k lol, since he bought both of his new. His is at 180k so when I said it still drives like a new car he knew exactly what I meant.

Yeah I think the RakAttach might be next after the awning, seeing as how cooking today was a pain because I set it up to be able to access all my cooking stuff from the back. It makes things convenient when I am cooking and doing dishes off the tailgate.

So my plans for this upcoming week is to go ahead and order the awning (still deciding which), as well as replace the drivers side window. Something hit my drivers side window and it’s pretty bad, and I am surprised it didn’t break all the way. The dual sided glass is pretty strong but it’s more than bad enough to need replacement. Does anyone know if a window for a 200 series LC will fit into the LX? The one for LC for my year is only 100 bucks on eBay.

I think I will spare you guys the pain of posting the window picture, just trust me that it’s bad because I don’t replace things for aesthetic reasons.

Hang in there bud, there’s an awning room coming with your name on it! The interlock disabled my car (didn’t rinse enough after brushing & mouthwash) while it was parked in a sunny spot over the weekend, so it was tough keeping him cool in 80 degree weather. It took a bag of ice and lots of shade and water. And frosties... he loveeeees frosties!

Today I got the car back and really glad to have AC again. Time to look for other ideas to keep cool without having to keep the engine running all the time (rip MPG). Also I’ve had to move several times to stay in the shade as the angle of the sun changes. Soon we will make our own shade!

Knowing that I want something that will last as well as knowing that I want a good baseline to compare others to, I decided to go ahead and grab the ARB as the first piece to my awning setup.

Just in case I am grabbing wrong or unneeded parts here is a list of everything I plan on ordering tomorrow for the awning:

ARB 4x4 Accessories 814107 Retractable Awning with Optional Led Light Strip (814101) 2500x2500mm 8.2 Feet

Amazon product ASIN B07TRNQYPK
ARB 813108A Awning Room (Deluxe w/Floor 2500mm x 2500mm Heavy Duty) for ARB Awning 814101 or ARB4401A

Amazon product ASIN B071NP2QNC
2 x ARB 813402 Awning Bracket 50mm Wide 8mm Pre-Drilled Holes Gusseted Awning Bracket

Amazon.com: ARB 813402 Awning Bracket 50mm Wide 8mm Pre-Drilled Holes Gusseted Awning Bracket: Automotive

YAKIMA - Universal MightyMount, Mount for Factory or Aerodynamic Car Rack System (Set of 4)

Amazon.com : YAKIMA - Universal MightyMount, Mount for Factory or Aerodynamic Car Rack System (Set of 4) : Bike Car Rack Accessories : Sports & Outdoors

About 600 total including mounts and brackets.

Which brings me to my next question, are there any members wanting to sell theirs or any mud vendors selling this/something comparable? I am ready to order tomorrow or tonight as soon as I figure out where to order from. I can wait if needed.

So the light strip and brackets cost more on amazon than 4wheelparts, and 4wheelparts agreed to give me a 10% discount, so it ended up being $560 for awning with light strip, deluxe room with floor, and 2 arb L brackets instead of over 640 from amazon!

For other things the price was same. Rep said they do price match amazon.

Just need to get the Yakima mighty mounts and good to go!

I have a 4wheelparts near me...what are the magic words I need to say to get this same deal?

Short version is that I just asked and got it.

Long version is I called the store and asked if they had any discounts for new customers or anything he knows of, and he said that he can price match any deals found online including amazon. Then I did some google searches sorted through some fake coupons and came across this:

9D44BC0A-4203-419E-8B82-F83E65383A32.png

When I clicked it it brought me to their deals page which did not include that deal, so I called and asked about it. I got the runaround about google not updating and old queries and etc, and then he asked me what it was that I need and he can check if he can discount for me. I told him the arb awning and room and he said that he could.

Then the store rep from earlier called me back (he had to help someone in store earlier and said he would check shipping times and call me back), and I told him about the 10% discount for orders above 500 and he didn’t even question it. He only asked if the rep was from his store so he could give the sales credit where it’s due.

Sounds like an old promotion but sounds like they still honor it. I’d be happy to pm you the extension and name of rep who answered the national number if you want. I decided to go with the local rep so I feel bad about leaving that guy hanging.

Yea if you want to shoot me his info I will go through him to create a sense of balance in the universe. Karma, or something...

Thanks for bringing balance to the force! Seriously though i feel better now knowing his efforts to help me won’t be in vain.

I thought the first/local rep forgot about me since it had been a few hours since he said he’d call me back, then soon after I told the national rep I would call in to order tomorrow, the guy calls me back . That’s life for ya lol.

Got a used set of mighty mounts on eBay for under 40 bucks, and went ahead and finalized the awning order.
Now we wait!

Didn’t feel like making another thread for such a minor thing, but has anyone ever had their High Mode display as neutral?

I tried turning the car off and back on but it still displayed H as N. I left it alone, checked an hour later and it was properly displaying H. No idea what could have caused or fixed it.

Video is for reference. Beginning of video I am in High, then I drop it to low then back to high.

The low MPG is the result of me spending a lot of time idling while parked.

I'd love to see 11.3 mpg on my display. With the 10% tires reduction and any in town driving I'm below 10 often.

It was just balancing the corners. Sometimes that will take a bit going up.

Long post incoming.

As many of you know, in order to make rear access possible while the bike is loaded, I have been considering the RakAttach. I think I am ready to pull the trigger, just gotta do some last minute digging for discounts first.

The reason I chose this over a Yakima Backswing is for the extra 25 lbs capacity, seeing as how I am at 245 lbs (not counting the storage bag and what’s in it) between the carrier and bike, and the backswing has a 250 lb capacity. I also plan on switching to a small enduro at some point, which I imagine will weigh a little more. I need something more off road capable for a bike, if it’s purpose is to act as Plan B in case the car gets stuck/breaks down in the woods. The Rakattach has 25 lbs higher capacity and I am thinking that I will use every lb of that.

Also, I considered the Kuat Pivot 2.0 but that one does not offer the option of choosing which side to swing to. Other than that it is the same as the RakAttach. This is important because I access the vehicle from the passenger side when camping, so I want to swing it to drivers side (saves me a lot of walking around the bike when in camp mode).

The fact that the bike is loaded up right now, It’s a pain to get all my cooking gear out. I set it up to have everything right there when I access it from the back. Part of the reason is because my cooking system isn’t very compact. My stove is bulky and my pot and pan takes up a lot of space. This has gotten me thinking about something more compact, and today I saw that the Jetboil base camp system is on sale for 15% off. I think I will grab it. I have been turned off by the other jet boil stoves because of how expensive the fuel is and limited places to buy them, but this basecamp system uses the traditional 16 oz propane tanks that are prevalent and reasonably priced. If anyone has a better system I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Also, fingers crossed on maybe getting a used Dometic CF18 for around 200 bucks. Just waiting til Wednesday to see if the other interested party is buying the entire camper bundle, and if not he will part out the fridge to me.

Between the awning and room, the cooking system, the swing away carrier mount, and potentially a fridge... this is going to be a very good two weeks for me!!

I may be biased, but I personally think it's a great setup:
