I would like to head up to Nevada this October to join our northerly neighbors on their annual Gillter Gulch Gambol. This is one of the TLCA's oldest sanctioned events.
It runs October 20-22 near Mesquite Nevada.
check here http://www.snlc.org/glitter_gulch_gambol.htm
I emailed SNLC earlier for more info and told them I was interested in maybe bringing up a few CSC folks.
I will have my daughter along and will be camping. Any AZ folks interested in going? I believe that because it is a TLCA sanctioned event that you do need to be a member of TLCA. I will probably head up to Vegas a couple of days early or stay a couple of days after the run. My dad and sister live there.
Post up any interest

This event has been high on my list since I joined the TLCA. Someday I will make it, but sadly it won't be this year.

I got a response from SNLC about the run:

We would be happy to see a good group from AZ.

Our event is typically small in numbers, so we usually do a difficult run and a moderate/easy trail each day. Last year we had about 25 vehicles splitting the group into 10-15 on the difficult and 5-10 on the moderate. Based on the number of registrants, we can offer more trail runs. The area is marbled with mining trails ranging from scenic to hardcore. We designated several trails on our permit from BLM, so we have some options. Unfortunately out favorite trail was severely damaged by the torrential rains we had last year, but we have been putting in some work this year to make it passable again.

We have something for everyone from hardcore rock buggys to stock 100s.

John

So, I put in for my vacation and plan on attending.

Sounds like a fun run, thanks for the leg work Mr Baggins. If you email again ask about hotel lodging in the area.

You got it. IIRC there was an article last year in Toyota Trails about the run. I'll look it up for some more info on the trails.

Mesquite hotels, etc.

Looks like they have a number of choices on hotels/motels/RV spots

I found the Toyota Trails article. It's in the sept/oct 2005 issue. Last years registration form is also in that issue, to give an idea on cost. It was $50 reg. fee, $10 BLM fee. Pretty cheap, like I said that was last years fee, but I'm sure it wouldn't be much different this year.

Here is a map of Mesquite, its just about on the AZ border off of I-15. About 80miles from Vegas.

BUMP!

Just to keep you all thinking about it. :flipoff2:

Hotels are about 20 mins form the campground (or less dependong on how fast you drive on dirt roads). Mesquite has full amenities for anyone wanting to come out. The missus can even get a full masage while you are wheelin :D

The "official" dinner is Sat night. But I will probably do something special on Fri :)

BUMP

back to the front!!

I am in this year :D

I need to get back out there and run some trails in that area, its been a while !

I didn't get drawn for anything for the fall hunt, so it looks like I will be attending the GGG this year. I'll be sending out my registration in the next few days.

Anybody else from AZ interested?

I am. I'll need to do a little research, and the GF's outta vacation, but I'm game. I'll go pencil in the vacation now.

I just emailed SNLC for registration info and scheduled the time off work. So it looks like I'm going. This gives me the motivation (or deadline) to finish some mods to the rig.

Awesome! That will be great to have more than 1 AZ cruiser at the event. This will be my first TLCA event so I'm pretty excited to be going.
My dad lives in Vegas, so I was planning on heading up thursday, the run is friday/saturday. Then cleanup/packup on sunday morning and head to Vegas to hang with dad for a couple days.

:D..

Hopin this is a banner year for the Gambol :D

Bump!

I sent in my registration today. Booked a hotel in Mesquite. I was told that weekend was filling up because of a NASCAR convention(?). Rates weren't too bad - only 4 casinos in town...

Anyone else planning on going?

C'mon you bunch of slackers! You got sumthin better to do in October. Lets get at least a couple more AZ people in on this!
You know you wanna:D

How many of you are considering the Gambol?
