Just bought a 2004 Tundra 4.7 with 370k, for a beater truck. Rust free if you can believe it. Anyway, I’ve done all the fluids and plugs and new denso coils and cleaned MAF sensor. as it was running rough, runs smooth now. The only item now that is of slight concern is that under hard acceleration I can hear a slight pinging. Any ideas of what this could be? I’ve owned a lot of V8 Toyota products and never have had this….

I still have the fuel filter to do and throttle body, but not sure that would have anything to do with it.

Amy suggestions of how to diagnose or possible solutions would be great. I assume these engines don’t require valve adjustments…?

thank you in advance

cracked exhaust manifolds

the 4.7 was notorious for that

So I’ve seen that before but I would hear it on 100 series land cruisers at idle and when they were cold, obviously same engine. This only happens under hard acceleration and when hot or cold. It doesn’t sound like the broken manifolds I’ve heard in the past, not saying it isn’t I just remember hearing something different….
