The 100 isn’t going anywhere :)
Last weekend I got a great deal on this ‘03. Couldn’t pass it up.

I’ve always liked the look of ‘01-‘04 Sequoias, ‘00-‘02 Tundras and ‘99-2002 Land Cruisers. Something about that lower lip makes it a lot more classic than the later ones.
The obvious dinger in the left rear sucks (looking for a bumper and tail light currently) but the rest of the body is good, the frame is super clean and the interior is mint. Only 238k miles. The [other] problem? Basically zero maintenance. If it wasn’t brakes or oil changes it didn’t get done. So I have some catching up to do. It’s on its original timing belt for starters 😳. For fun I’ll be throwing on a set of 5100’s from Josh at 1st Gen Off-road with second hand 285/70 KO2’s on 3rd gen Tacoma wheels. Thinking about doing the Gambler 500 with it this summer...

Nice pickup! How is it so far? I'm considering an 01 at the opposite end of the spectrum, all maint & a bunch of mods. Any advice on things to look out for during the inspection?

Sorry for the dial tone but I have made some progress on this thing.
I bought this thing cheap. Friend of a friend deal. Plan is to catch it up on all maintenance and fix everything else. While I’m at it, give it some curb appeal.
My original idea was to go down to 16x7” Tacoma wheels, 265/75’s and somewhere around zero offset to get the tires out to the edge of the fenders. Try to make a small tire look big. But then I came across a set of 17” TRD Sport wheels with really nice E rated 285/70 KO2’s on them for too cheap to pass up. So now the plan became, How low and narrow can I get 33’s?
With an aim towards simplicity I went with 5100’s on the front, 2nd notch for 1” lift. OME 10mm spacers on the rear- I like a small amount of rake. The wheels are +30 so I wanted to try a 1” (25.4mm) spacer to get the offset to +5. All 20mm of added tire width goes to the outside. Luckily I found a set of new, never used Bora 1” spacers semi locally for a steal, and I didn’t have to wait 7 weeks to get them.

First things first, off with the boards.

This thing is very dry underneath. So much nicer to work on than my old ‘05. Although I did have to cut 3 of the original shocks out out of the thing.

Helped my buddy do an oil change and tire rotation on on my old rig at the same time.

Overall, I dig it! I snapped a rear sway bar end link so the ass is a bit wobbily right now (and it can’t keep coolant in it, that’s another story). I really like how it looks with the fenders filled up. I am getting a touch of rub on the frame rail though, not enough to worry about or should I go 1.25”?

I did register for the gambler this June, I’m pretty stoked on that! Gives me enough time to get this dialed in for the trip. I am planning on selling it after that...

I’ve been ordering lots of parts and preparing for the timing belt job which will hopefully happen next weekend. Yesterday I did sort out the broken hatch handle, I ended up getting the metal replacement handle and swapping just the handle itself over to the original Toyota mechanism. Predictably the aftermarket mechanism wasn’t of very good quality.

Cleaned up the back panel while I had access to it.

Lubed and greased up everything that moves. Hatch works again!
Rear window wiper had been replaced with a generic RainX item that didn’t work well and didn’t go back in its home.

Got an OEM blade from McGeorge and everything works as it should 👍🏼

I am looking at doing a similar setup on my '04, what are your fender-to-hub measurements for front and rear?

I got busy with life and didn’t update this thread. Truck is now finished and I achieved my goal of doing the Gambler 500 in it last month. The truck performed perfectly, couldn’t be happier!
