I'm on the brink of purchasing a great 100 series, though I believe the seller only has what seems to be a valet key. There are no buttons on it and I've only seen him physically lock the door with the key by turning it. I wanted to know what I am up against if I go through with the purchase.
I've done some reading and it sounds like this might end up being quite a headache so any shared wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
1. I don't believe this key is the master nor do they have one
2. I believe I can verify by inserting the key into the ignition and a red light on the dash stack should immediately go off to indicate that correct? if the light doesn't go off immediately, its a non-master key
3. If this key is not a master/keyfob and the vehicle is a 2003, is there an easy resolution to get a new master key?
4. I read briefly that this would require an ECU reset?
