Like someone said earlier, we only have 11 months until the 1998 100 series can come in from the ROW. So did they make LHD, V8, 5 speed manual with IFS in 1998?

This also opens up the USA to LHD, turbo diesel, 5 speed manual with IFS and of course the 105s with solid front axle.

I thought that the US rules were based on date of manufacture (on the sticker on the door frame), instead of the model year?

Very possible, so even less months.

I recently bought a 2005 UZJ100 5 speed manual here in Australia. Really nice condition, one owner with full Toyota service history. Unfortunately (and oddly for a Toyota), there's no service interval for the manual trans oil! The shift feel was really bad when I got it (not suprising after 250K on the same oil), but has come good with a few flushes. Next oil change I'll switch to Motul, which I've had great success with in other manuals.
Mods I've got planned for the next few weeks include headers, 100CPI cats, 3" catback, part-time kit and 3.55 diff gears.

Bet It’ll sound like a beast with long tube headers and 3” exhaust

Holy cow, that's a smoking deal for something with ~120k miles. . . rust free, I presume. And does that thing have full-float rear axles?? Or are those just hub caps front and rear?
Someone recently reminded me that many (all?) ROW IFS V8 100 series are legal to import to the US, even before hitting 25 years old . . . there's an exception for "substantially similar" vehicles or verbiage similar to that. . . wonder if this one would be. . .

That does look like a good deal, around $10K less than I paid! Also considering how rare these are, makes it an even better deal. Being Toyota's only petrol V8 ever with a manual makes it a bit special too. The configuration of a manual v8 suv is also pretty unique, only other petrol v8 4x4's I can think of in the Aus market are the old Land Rovers and Range Rovers and with the IFS I think the UZJ100 manual is the only 4x4 ever made in that spec!

it not being legal to the US yet probably keeps the price down a bit

so where are the LHD gas powered 105s at? Thats on my list.

I think it might be legal….

I don't think they ever put the V8 in the 105.

My question is where are the LHD, 5 speed manual turbo diesel or V8 crusier's from 1998 onward and did the 1998 come with rear AC as an option?

That matches my understanding--no V8s or even 1HD diesels in the 105s.

They certainly had manual LHD 5-speed manual V8s in the GCC market, and it looks like those may well be legal to import even before 25 years of age (the post I linked to in #32 above has a link to a list of able-to-import vehicles that are substantially similar to US-legal models, and the IFS 100 series are on there, but that exemption would only apply for V8 gas ones. ), so perhaps the question about '98 model year and rear AC is irrelevant?

Looks like you may already have your fair share of 100s, though:rofl:

Has anyone looked at adapting a nv4500 or the tremac tr4050? 4WD - https://shiftsst.com/4wd
I purchased a TR4050 with a Cummins R2.8 from Quickdraw. I have just started working on this, 3 days in now. (rookie). Quickdraw provided the adapter/bell housing to the R2.8 but not the one from the transmission to the original transfer case. I think we had discussed it, I do remember they were going to start making their own, but..... I slept since then. (5month lead on the engine). (They also forgot the 12 bellhousing bolts  . I got an adapter for the Transfer case to the TR4050 overnighted from Advanced adapters: Perfect. (Thanks Geno). The TR4050 will push the engine forward about 4-1/2" but since I'm installing new motor mounts this should not create an issue with the spacious BJ40 engine compartment. Everything I read about the TR4050 seems to validate the extra $ for the long run.
One thing about the TR4050, it appears to have perfectly spaced bolts (6) on the back end. I thought Adv. Adapters had sent me the wrong one b/c 2 holes didn't line up. While rotating it around like trying to open a safe, suddenly all 6 were perfectly in line. (add angel voices singing here).
I'll post more next week if I finish.
