Hi I have a 2006 LC with a similar issue. It works but gets stuck the final 1 inch.
Have never seen you might want to try to buy a gallon of Evapo Rust on Amazon. Plug the drain holes and flood the sunroof tray.
You might find it dissolves the rust in an hour or so. Then lube it like crazy.
Make sure you it doesn’t leak into your cabin, but if it does I think it’s water soluble.
It maybe worth the $15 or for sure you will find a use for the rest. It is reusable!
