I have a 2002 LC. I have had it a few months and have already blown a $300 jbl speaker. No matter what level I have the bass on it is always booming. I ordered a new amp but I am not sure this is what will fix it. Has anyone else had this problem?

What amp are you using to power the sub?

My 01 is that same way. I can have the bass on -4 and it still cranks out the front speakers. It can be annoying. Besides that I have not owned a better vehicle.

I was pm'ing Shotts about something else and he mentioned that this is a known issue and the amp is defective. Apparently, there was a service bulletin out about it. I'm going to call the dealer to get some specifics on what they might be willing to do.

Had the same issue on my 01 Sequoia a couple of years ago - booming bass and poor sound coming from rear speakers - had the TSB done which required replacing the deck and amplifier and back speakers - noticeably better now.

Do any of you guys that have changed out your factory amps and speakers still have the parts? I'm looking for a passenger side front speaker and the factory amp. If you have said items and want to sell, send me a pm.

The main amp was designed incorrectly and needs a changeout. All will be well afterwards. One hour labor and ~$400 though the dealers will work with you due to the TSB. :)

Any idea if the TSB covers earlier years of the 100 series? My 99 has a similar issue, sounds like the sub is blown.

I talked to my dealer and they want over $400 just for the amp. I can buy it new from CDan for around $340. I also have a blown front passenger side speaker. What I'm looking for is one of you guys that went to aftermarket stuff, if you're willing to sell your factory amp and front speakers, I'm interested in buying them. I just don't want to spend $500+ on a factory stereo. I'd rather spend the money on a new front bumper.
