Wifes car, 85k miles, no off roading. Tech quoted me $550 for 4 new Monroe shocks and installation. Wanted to check here before going forward.

He is willing to charge me just labor if I bring in my own parts. Thought there had to be a better option than Monroe. Any recommendations? Sites, discounts, etc.

Thanks.

Bilstein or OEM. I would not go with Monroe, haven't heard good things about them. call cdan (mud user name) and he will give you a discount on the OEM stuff.

FYI -I have OEM on hand and can ship them to your door for $106

x3 on OEM.

I had Bilsteins on my 2000 LC, I liked them but my :princess: didn't, I think it rode to much like our TRD Taco. So when I just replaced the shocks on my 03 LC I put OEM on and the :princess: approves (it is a nice plush ride).

As for Monroes, I've had them on a Buick... but don't think I'd trust them off road.

edit: And just over $100 is good for the price of all four delivered, that's what I paid. As for install price I'm sure others have a better idea for that, I did mine myself (not to bad if you have the time).

YES, $106 for all four OEM shocks shipped to your door:D

Rumor has it, Old Man Emu is manufactured in the same factories as Monroe.

Get the front suspension bushings replaced at the same time. Cheap and most need it. Maybe gotmud can give the thread a killer quote on the entire front bushing set up too.

Better rumor yet, OME's are just refurbed Monroes.

when I read that I was wondering if it was true. Did some research and found out everything from the piston diameter and warranty is the same from Monroe vs OME.

Even Monroe has their own line of "L" shocks.

Making me happier and happier about my Bilstein decision. They ride awesome!
