Ok, so I'm hoping that I can get some help here. I've looked at several other threads on this subject but not exactly same symptoms as far as I can tell. ABS, VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, and ACTIVE TRAC lights all on. Wheel sensors all check out fine. My mechanic could not get the OBD to do the Zero Point Calibration, or to even read any codes whatsoever from the ABS module. Mechanically everything seems fine, brakes, steers, etc fine. No ABS, VSC alarm sounds (I've heard it before, and got the dreaded swerve associated). All indications are that it's probably the ABS/VSC module. Does anyone know of a positive test to make sure this is correct? I've found one from a vendor that deals in parted out LC's, but will not accept returns if this is not the issue. Thanks in advance for any response. Here's a pic of my dash.

Check your brake light fuse....seriously.

Last time my obd wouldn't comunicate with my reader it was the fuse block assembaly on battery terminal. I was only getting power to half of fuses under dash. Alot of corrosion was present and when I wiggled it everything worked.I had same dash lights and no power windows etc.

Thanks everyone. I should have made myself more clear, sorry about that. My mechanic pulled all related fuses, could not find anything there. I'm going to double check that and the relay. He and I both tried the jumper to reset the zero point calibration. Is there a way to check the ABS module to verify it's the issue?

We're you able to read the ABS codes by using the jumper on the socket in the engine bay and the resulting flashing dash lights?

No codes jumper method either, my mechanic tried that. i'm pretty sure ABS module is dead, but it's pretty expensive to replace if that's not it.

Might be worth a trip to toyota and hook into TIS to get the actual diagnosis- or spend the $45 on the mini vci and techstream software to look for dtc’s and do your zero point calibration.

Also noticed in your picture the charging guage looks a little high. Not sure if that is normal on a 2001. On mine it sits at halfway which is marked at 14v (scanguage says 13.7). Anyway have you checked your Alternator output voltage?

Find a wiring diagram, locate your B+ and ground pins at the connector and see if it has power and ground.

I have FSM here for 2001 Land Cruiser if you need any info please let me know and I will post it for you.

Thanks to everyone for chiming in. Update: I double checked all associated fuses, all checked out ok. I found the ABS-VSC relay, but had difficulty pulling it. It's very tight in there, looks like there is some sort of clip holding it in? Can I pry that loose with a little screwdriver? I'll try to pull it and test it today just to make sure. I gave it the traditional love tap to make sure it was not stuck, lights still on. I'll add pics of relay.

Yesterday I talked to someone at Cruiserparts.net (thanks for the tip, can't remember name) who said these units almost never fail, and for me to pull the rubber boots off to check the terminals. He said that they often get moisture inside and corrode. I found these pics at this thread:

ABS Modulator - (Master cylinder, Pump/Motor, Accumulator, Resivoir, Solenoid module)

Will do my best to check these, but they are extremely difficult to get to. I may pull the ABS module and see if it makes it easier to get to it. I'm guessing that it might take pulling the whole assembly. If I can't get to them, and the relay checks out, I will go to the Toyota dealership for diagnostics.

ABuck99, will check the voltage from alternator, good eyes there.

Travis, thanks, I'll see if I can find those wire diagrams and test.

Yardpig, I have the FSM somewhere and will hunt down the diagrams. I'll reach out to you if I can't find them. Thanks!

I forgot, but the green relay lower right is the ABS VSC relay. And, to be clear, this pics of the pulled assembly are not mine, from another thread.

Have you tried unplugging and reseating the harness plugs to the master cylinder/abs as well as doing the same to the VSC module by the steering column?

No, that's a good idea, reseating all plugs. We have rain here for the next too days, not sure I'll have access to garage. So I'll try these solutions as soon as I can. Thanks, everyone has been great helping out with this. Anybody know the trick on pulling that relay without breaking anything?

There are pliers made for pulling relays that make it a bit easier. Otherwise just wiggle back and forth carefully and they should eventually come free, patience!

Ok, pulled all associated wires from ABS module and inspected (others than those with rubber boot that are screw type terminals, impossible to get to as far as I can tell without removing ABS module). Those were ok. Reseated them all, lights still on. I managed to pull the relay, pair of pliers helped. Can anyone help with a diagram for the green 6 pin ABS module? Actually there are two. I can post numbers from them later. Thx again.

Did you ever fix this?

Sorry to bring an old thread back. Maybe my experience can help someone.

Had the same issue today with a 2001 LC at work. No communication with ABS system/module. 2 different scanners. VSC, Trac, abs, brake lights on dash.

Luckily we had a 2000 LC on the lot so I swapped the VSC/Trac computer from the good truck. This computer/ecu is located at the driver side footwell on 99-03 trucks.

Swapping the VSC ECU solved the issue. I'm sure someone could dive deeper and rebuild the ECU, but we will be simply replacing.
