Been resetting moms Corolla for a while, but it just started bucking, sputtering and near stall at lights.

2001 Corolla, 1.8l VVTi 4 cyl

Have to reset the ecu everytime the air temp swings 45f, but is not working now.

Disconnected O2 sensors 2 years ago.
Changed radiator 6 months ago.

Not smoking, using lots, but some oil down on plugs below coil packs (4), figured i leaned on the valve cover too much, so must change (8 lbs tourqe, plus 80 oz!)
No oil leaks on block, valve cover, or timing area.
No oil milkshake
no oil in rad or overflow.

Just checked Oil Control Valve, moved under jump, ohms only 2 over at 10.

These have a piston issue, with bypass holes that get plugged easily, so just switched couple weeks ago to 10-30 from 5-50. ( in AZ, so no temp prob) Oil is dirtier than usual, and using lots 1/4 qt week.

has a bypass vent hose from valve cover to intake, and just found PCV on back of valve cover, so will check tomorrow.

Still seems like enough to vent valves, so i am guessing PCV, valve seals, or those plugged piston holes.

How would something put enough vac on Rad hose to form it collapsed? I just noticed it today, popped rad cap to check for oil in rad, and hoses did not return to round.

Other ideas appreciated...

Hose collapse was caused by plugged overflow line, may have been when rad blew a crack in the top plastic.

Burped it on ramps, and it has refilled hoses.

There should be a spring inside the hose to prevent it from collapsing. It sounds the water pump is doing a great job sucking coolant and transmitting it for the engine.
