2000 LX 470 been problem free for 230k. parked it yesterday and 1 hour later, would crank but not fire. New battery 3 months ago and cranks very well.

Checked all fuses and EFI relay and all appear good. Jumpered EFI relay socket with relay out still cranks, still no fire.

Interestingly, I have NO CEL (engine shaped) sholing on the dash in any key position or whilst cranking.

Have looked for the fuel pump relay but not found it yet! All I've found is a 2" suare (ish) aluminium box with fuel pump control written on it. No sign of relay near by?

Have also pushed the little yellow cut off switch button UP(?) as this appears to be the only way it wants to be pushed BUT it doesn't click or anything so don't think it was tripped anyway.

Have started to peel the carpet back under the center seats but have found no access panel to the fuel pump yet.

My feeling is that the cause of the no CEL light is my problem not the fuel pump circuit? I THINK I would still get a CEL light even if the fuel pump or FP relay had a problem, correct?

Any/all suggestions where to look next would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Pull a plug to test for spark. Then assuming you've got spark pull the fuel line at the filter and see if its pumping (rubber band a few layers of cloth over the fuel line end and use a catch container to minimize the mess and having to call the fire department :D).

If its TPS/APPS related I assume it would push a code...

And just for grins disconnect the MAS sensor connection and spray it with electrical contact cleaner...and snap it back together. I've experienced the same symptom due to loose and/or poor connection there.

Does immobilizer recognize the presence of your key?

Will test for spark and clean MAF connection right now and report back asap. Thanks.

I assume it is recognising the key because I've also tried a second key with same results AND I'm not getting the car/key symbol on the dash lights.

WELL, NO spark!!!!!!

Just pulled the plug lead/cap and inserted an old but still servicable plug in, grounded it and NOTHING spark like.

MAF plug/socket also just cleaned.

Is the no spark related to the no CEL in any key position?

Sounding like an immobilizer issue

OK......disconnected the fuel line which runs from the black fuel filter(?) next to the large under hood fuse box, to the back end of the fuel rail.

When cranked, NO fuel spews from the the disconnected location.

Appears that of the three things we need, we DON'T have two of them.

Suggests to me a very fundamental problem? Large fuse or relay which is related to these systems.

Any pointers please?

Had the same issue with my 02. ALL the same issues. No firing, no fuel, ....

Both keys were not being recognized by the immobilizer.

Look to see if the little red key on the center console is flashing.

I took some electronics cleaner and cleaned out the fuse box (on advice from another member).

Haven't had a problem in 9 months (I have owned it for about a year).

Please clean fuse box before you spend a dime.

YES, Little red car/key symbol on center console, by the side of the clock IS flashing in key position 2 AND whilst cranking. Excellent.

I'm so sorry, I was looking for that symbol on the main dash cluster.

What now?

Well, to be honest, I was stuck at Chuckie Cheese, so I took out each fuse and LICKED them. Seriously.

But once I got home, I took electronics cleaner and cleaned out the whole fusebox (behind the battery).

Worked like a charm.

Good luck.

Just took all relays and fuses out of main fuse/relay box and the smaller box by the side of it. Sprayed the Sh** out of all sockets and dried using compressed air gun. Replaced all relays and fuses.

Problem unfortunately persists! No change.

Also tried the lock/unlock multiple times operation and also triggering thew alarm trick. Still nothing!

Good ideas so far, any others?

For it to have apparently "lost" communication between ignition system and keys (both) I'm thinking the problem is the car, not the keys. Is there a particular fuse or fusible link that protects the car side of the immobiliser system?

Thanks so far.

Fuseable links ?,test both sides with volt meter. Mike

Bummer!

I had the problem for a while right after I purchased it. No rhyme or reason.

When I cleaned out the fusebox and it started fine, I sorta felt like it was just a coincidence.

But that being said, after I cleaned to heck out of it, I've had no issues. ???

Good luck man!

The Fusible Link is located on the + side of the battery post (cable side)...IIRC its a 140a FL.

What was your issue back in July when you posted similar problem? Wouldn't hurt to disconnect the battery + lead and leave it disconnected for 30-minutes or so...doubt that's your issue but since we getting to the "throwing mud on the wall" phase :D
