Hello everyone, I have been researching quite a bit concerning swapping a 1HZ into a 1992 FJ80 (US Spec.). Lots of information spread throughout many threads, so I hoped to narrow some of it down into one thread for confirmation/correction.
First of all:
1-1HZ-H150 is the most likely combo as far as I can tell.
So... a) Can the H150 use the existing crossmember? (I have read that the H55 will NOT fit the FJ80 from interference issues.)
b) Engine mounts for the 3FE do NOT work with the 1HZ, and new ones would need to be made right?
2-Many of the 1HZ's for sale are fitted to H55's. Would these also bolt up to an H150 Transmission, or would you need to swap out input shafts and clutch discs? (If so, what parts would need to change... bellhousing maybe...etc.)
3-It seems to me that this "could" be a fairly straight forward swap, but perhaps there are words of wisdom to be had. Basically as much pertinent info as you can throw out there. Thanks for the info guys.
Michael.
