1HZ Oil Pressure (1 Viewer)

Not sure why I haven't checked this previously, but I noticed lately that on idle, the oil pressure seems to be super low. Once I get moving and step on it, it hits the mid level mark and all is good.

Should I be worried about the lower oil pressure at idle?

I'm ordering up a oil pressure gauge that I'll wire up just to keep a more accurate reading on things. For peace of mind

Yep, check it with a manual gauge. Factory sender wears out and reads low.

As noted, these commonly wear out and read low. No biggie.

But for peace of mind, and general troubleshooting, a simple manual gauge kept somewhere in the truck will let you drive safely if it should read WAY too low--or not drive, if the pressure really is dangerously low.

Simple $20 to keep hiding somewhere in the truck in case you need to install it someday on the road.

@DanS HJ-45 Thanks. Was thinking a full time gauge hooked up next to my pryo and boost. Would that give different readings than a manual gauge for testing purposes only?

A full time gauge is great. But I find that too many gauges clutter up the dash more than I like, so a temporary mechanical gauge can be carried and installed in about 10 minutes, but not always clutter up my dash.

But if you have room for a gauge, then add away!
