HI All,

Were taking a 1HZ apart to overhaul completly.

Any recommended tips regarding
1! longivity !
2 more fuel effeciency
3 more hp and torque

There is alot of cash involed in getting the engine parts+
geeting the bj45 troopie new tires and the whole load.
So, no $turbo$
, and theres many about 1HZ turbos in treads already!

how can I check if the head is still good?
the valves etc
the fuel pump must be inspected is im correct, can it be rebuild if neccecary?

The shims to adjust the valves, can they be purchased at toyota?

Throw a turbo on it if your going to do a full rebuild.
Engines australia has a 1hz turbo spec kit with better pistons designed for more abuse and 1hd-t rods/pins. This would be your best bet in my opinion.

You should easily get 250,000kms at an absolute minimum with this, way more in my opinion with proper service intervals.

Get good turbo set up for it.

Magnaflux the head to check for hairline cracks in between the valves. Regrind the valves and other parts as needed according to the manual.

You can get valve shims from toyota easily.

Get the pump and injectors rebuilt while your at it if your going to go through all this trouble.

I dont believe there is anything you can do thats worthwhile. They can already get 1000000 klms with just proper maintenance.
As for fuel economy and HP ,they are what they are.
Saving up for a turbo is probably the best option.

You can run a straight edge over it to check for warpage and check for the obvious things on the valves like pitting or cracking.
I would replace the pre cups.
When they rebuild them in oz they usually include a new aftermarket head but 1HZ heads are fairly reliable.
A head specialist is really the one to ask.
You may also want to check the inlet and outlet manifolds for warpage, mine were warped quite bad when I had them checked.

It doesnt have to be tested, but it is recommended to ensure the best performance.
It can be rebuilt but if its is very badly worn it can be cheaper to buy a new one.
The injectors should also be looked at.

Yes

I have also read this in the Oz forums, but with moderate boost I would think it should last nearly as long?
