Hi, my 80series 1hdt comes on boost very late in the rev range, like it boosts 10psi untill 3600 rpm and then hits 12psi after that, and being the auto g/box it only revs to 4000 rpm before it changes gear so onl get 400 rpm under full boost. I thought it might be a worn out turbo so I replaced it with the standard ct26 and still the same issue. Just wondering if anyone would know what the problem would be or is it normal and pay to twin turbo it with a smaller turbo as well as the standard one? And if I am to put a smaller turbo on with it, any recommendations on a good turbo?

boost is related to the waste gate setting which apparently is 10psi. Haven't noticed a jump to 12 psi with mine, but a gradual increase at higher revs so maybe thats what you are seeing. OEM settings are for relatively low boost probably due to EGTs. An intercooler would allow you to increase boost to about 16psi.
